Lando: A Star Wars Story

Kathleen Kennedy appears to have confirmed that this is in the works, and may actually be the next anthology story instead of the oft-rumored Obi-Wan film. Though without context, she may have meant that it is the next chapter after Solo and not necessarily the next "Star Wars Story" film.

https://www.cinemablend.com/news/242...g-to-lucasfilm

The original quote was from Premiere France and is translated from French

We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian. Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.

Looks like they know who will be the breakout in the new film...

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

So we’ve got Solo in a few days. Then episode IX in December 2019, right? Then what?

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

Nothing is announced officially for 2020. People have speculated about Obi-Wan, but this statement from Kennedy about Lando is more official than anything else we've gotten from Lucasfilm regarding the next anthology film (which is what would be due in 2020 by the current schedule).

There's also supposed to be a trilogy from Rian Johnson in the works and another trilogy from the guys behind Game of Thrones, but none of that has a release date or has started any pre-production that I'm aware of.

I hope Disney isn't going to milk this Star Wars cow until people are completely sick of the Franchise. (If they haven't already) To be honest, I only care to see the main story continue. I'm sure there's folks who will enjoy these side stories, but except for Rogue One, I have no interest in them.

For me, that happened 16 years ago with the second of the prequels.

Yes, that's true, I was just speaking for myself. Like I said in my previous post, i'm sure there will be lots of folks will enjoy the side films. I'm just not interested in them.

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

I mean I guess but we’re already getting Lando in Solo. Not sure how much more backstory we really need for him. Maybe see him establish Cloud City I guess.

I wish I was excited by this. I'm sure Donald Glover will be good, but for me, a little bit of him goes a long way.

Sorry, but that Lando Calrissian spin-off is still just a beautiful dream (for now)

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

I have a feeling Glover is going to blow up pretty big this year between Solo, the amazing second season of Atlanta and his This Is America video. He might not be interested in locking into Star Wars.

They would remake the OT if they thought it would make money. They're going to bleed this thing bone dry.

Lando was just a regular guy until one day he went downstairs to pay for the pizza...

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

Disney exec 1: “With the success of Black Panther what do we have for Star Wars?”

Disney exec 2: “Well, there’s Lando and...um...”

Disney exec 3: “How about that guy who was combing Tattooine with a giant hair pick?”

Disney exec 2: “That was Spaceballs.”

Disney exec 1: “Lando it is, then.”

There's a part of me that thinks it would be better to have a remake of the OT, if that meant we could get the originals fully restored and always available.

And Dark Empire and the Thrawn Trilogy and many other great stories, of course they'll need to be animated and tweaked to fit the new canon.

Anyways, roll on Lando, I'm down for all kinds of stories like this.

They're looking at a trilogy:

Willrow Hood: A Star Wars Story: Not Without My Chocolate Chunk
Willrow Hood: A Star Wars Story: I Love Rocky Road
Willrow Hood: A Star Wars Story: Cherry Garcia Nights

Re: Lando: A Star Wars Story

While standalone movie about Solo, Kenobi, Boba Fett or Lando would be fun movies, I wish they would get alittle more ambitious with their storytelling. I would love to see more specific stories (maybe something like an inside job assassination attempt by some of the Empire guards to take out The Emperor sometime between Episode 3 and 4). It would be somewhat similar to the movie Valkyrie with Tom Cruise where they wanted to take out Hitler at the end of WW2. I'm just thinking off the top of my head so obviously you could develop that story better, but there are so many more interesting stories to tell then just safe prequel movies like Solo and Kenobi.

^^ That sounds like a good plot for the live-action TV show.

I think they should cover the Clone Wars again. We haven’t seen enough of that yet...
