Favorite Bond film ending? (Version 2.0)

So out of all the movies thus far, which ending has stuck with you the most and why?

for me: the only one that sticks out the most is, what happens to be, fav as well, is Casino Royale. Even though it means to be his origin story (reinvention), the way he introduces himself in the end with such grace and poise to the wounded Mr. White and really that whole end building collapse scene was breathtaking. but, always remember end of this and though not conventional to set up a sequel in a Bond franchise film, this at least sets it up nicely. just too bad the execution in Quantum of Solace was way short of typical Bond movie standards. but, no kinda cheesy, but apropos love making to the Bond girl on the beach scene...

**also, no Never Say Never Again in poll. Something had to go**

The entire ending of Licence To Kill was great. The final action sequence with the big rigs on the windy mountain road, and then at the party Bond jumping off the balcony and into the pool (in his tuxedo, of course) to get the girl - perfection.

There's only one correct answer to this poll, but we have all the time in the world to discuss it. ;)

On Her Majesty’s is a jaw dropper. It’s the only bond ending that’s like BAM Shocking! All the others are pretty light.

Of the light ones I think The Spy Who Loved Me is the best and funniest.

While OHMSS is the best, artistically, it's nowhere near my favorite. It is a REAL downer.

I always remember the ending to Goldeneye for some reason, on the giant dish.

For England James? No, for me.

I don’t even think I’ve seen OHMSS. Does it lead into DAF?

You are not allowed to post James Bond polls without having seen On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. 😳

It does and it doesn't. You can infer that the pre title sequence in DAF is a direct follow up, but OHMSS is never explicitly referenced. After the credits, things just revert to being a typical big, dumb Bond movie.

OHMSS actually works much better if you think about it as a one off. The continuity is already screwed up because it was originally supposed to come before You Only Live Twice and feature Bond's first face to face with Bloefeld. As it stands, in OHMSS the two meet and act like they don't know each other even though they had just met in the previous movie. You can do all sorts of mental continuity gymnastics to make sense of it, but it doesn't really work.

Actually, DAF starts in Japan, seemingly picking up right where YOLT left off while ignoring the events of OHMSS. Ironically, Blofeld is alive in FYEO and resembles the Blofeld from the end of OHMSS. (Does that mean FYEO ignores the events of DAF?)

My 16 year-old son and I just finished our Bond Marathon. We watched all 24 films in 17 days. His first time seeing any of them.

We talked about this for a bit and agreed that while OHMSS had the most impactful ending for Bond personally (that ripples back in several of the films... through Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan). It wasn’t necessarily our favorite.

For me, the ending to Skyfall was my favorite. The battle at the Skyfall estate was rustic and action packed (in a Bond meets Home Alone meets A-Team meets Swiss Family Robinson sort of way), the boss battle in the chapel was pure exposition (complete with a “Rutger Hauer in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’” kill the bad guy ending), and the Home Office reset with “Field Agent” Eve revealed to be Moneypenny and Mallory becoming M brought us back to basics.
