Twisters (2024, D: Chung)
Universal Pictures is looking to reboot the classic tentpole “Twister,” and looks to have found a director to weather the storm.
Sources tell Variety that Universal Pictures is developing a reboot of the 1996 blockbuster and is in negotiations with “Top Gun: Maverick” helmer Joseph Kosinski to direct.
Frank Marshall will produce the pic and the studio is currently meeting with writers to pen the script.

I LOVED all of the original Twister movies.....all 1 of them.
Kind of makes you wonder why SyFy didn't make this into a series, akin to Sharknado. Or maybe that was their version.
Do we need this? I didn't think so.

I really liked the original when it first came out and still think the effects hold up but, man, is the story rough. The relationship triangle crap doesn’t really work and the big, triumphant science ending rings hollow since we don’t know what the hell were even looking at, aside from seeing a bunch of little sensors swept up in the tornado.
I’d be down for a big budget reboot. Why not? Keep the thriller twister stuff and re-write the story to something actually worth watching.
I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Kosinski so far, although extremely limited.

Twister 2 - Dorothy's Revenge
I still remember watching this in the theater, when I was 12 years old.

Wasn't Twister a WB production? Or a co-production with Universal? If the latter, when did WB give up their rights as they were the domestic distributor.
I guess Into the Storm wasn't tornado-ey enough? That thing was a bomb. Not sure why they think a reboot will be any better.

No offense but it is a lock Helen Hunt will not play one of the leads

I went in on this “ride” at universal studios. It was terrible.
Sign me up for part two.
Why no Helen Hunt? I figured if anyone was a lock to not return it’d be Bill Paxton.

Who can forget the triumphant finale when they...got a garbage can full of little balls into the tornado? Still gives me chills.

Just make sure to find a good rock band to redo "Humans Being".

Helen Hunt has aged considerably since that movie and Hollywood might want to cast somebody younger in that role.

Not too excited about this...although if they tied it in with the game I might be:
Left hand Red
Right foot Blue
Better run for cover, Twister's coming for you!

I'd say give the Aunt Meg role to Helen Hunt since she's older enough now. They could even write it in she's a retired storm chaser.

I liked the original well-enough (and parts were shot in Iowa near where I lived so that was cool) but it has not aged well. The effects are actually pretty shitty now. Tighten up the story, ditch some of the random silliness (doesn't a tornado roar at one point?) and sure, I'd be up for it.

Nope...this is one of the Best Classis Popcorn Movies of all-time...great Soundtrack and great cast...Paxton, Hunt, Smith (Ma), Gertz and the Twister Hunters with Hoffman, Ruck, Whalen and Josepher were all spot on....great chemistry between them all and the special effects back then still hold up fairly well today......Paxton with Hunt would be hard to beat but finding anyone to replace Hoffman (Dustin Davis) would be next to impossible....Dusty on seeing Bill first time...." the Extreme...IT'S THE EXTREME...."

Helen Hunt is 57 and I'd say she looks at least 10-12 years older than that.
