Reviews make it sound like it's fun but doesn't have a ton else happening under the surface. So kinda like the first movie

I am trying to avoid spoilers, but Collider seems to have a good review up, and from the RT link it so far looks like more reviews fall in the fresh vs rotten column. That is cool, because I am considering seeing this in theaters.

I'll probably catch it on IMAX on discount Tuesday

I have two big worries right now as we get closer to the release date. Since we still don't know the basics surrounding the plot I hope its not something that comes across as serious. This is supposed to be a fun disaster action flick. I hope there's good chemistry and personality among the tornado chasing crew behind Glenn Powell. Based on the trailer it just seems like they scream their lines. I'm looking at going to the early screening on Wednesday the 17th.

From the new trailer and the final sequence of the refinery (or what looks to be a refinery) getting wrecked by the twister, gives me some Deepwater Horizon vibes. I had zero interest in this but may watch it in Dolby Cinema after all. I read an article with the DP and this was apparently shot on film, as were the plates for the visual effects, etc. It's typically only Christopher Nolan and a handful of others that still do their entire workflow on film.

I remember the summer of 1996 when I was under the impression that both Twister and Independence Day got good reviews. However, I only read reviews from USA Today in those days so they basically did as far as I was concerned. :shrugs:

I've decided not to see this in theaters after all. Will rent it on 4K disc when it hits home video.

About $7 mill from previews. Not too shabby.

Will this get a reviews thread or will this be the one? Going to see it this afternoon.

Its box office will almost certainly fall off a cliff next week, but this film had a HUGE opening weekend. Shocking really.

Maybe, but the audience score for this is pretty good so who knows.

Longlegs held on better than expected this weekend.

While Deadpool and Wolverine will definitely win next weekend, I see this one having some legs. Strange as it may sound, this could work as a date movie, if people even do that anymore. It would have definitely worked as such in the day of the original . What really keeps summer movies from achieving their full potential theatrically these days is the fact that they don't really get enough time to find their audience. They get one weekend before another major player comes the next weekend. Then the studio inevitably decides to drop the movie on streaming in a little over a month, this killing any further theatrical possibility.

Re: Twisters (2024, D: Chung) S: Edgar-Jones, Powell, Ramos

The problem here is next week it will lose most or all of its premium screens. And this is undoubtedly a premium screen movie. I'm sure a LOT of its box office take was due to that.

Yeah I'm going to catch it tomorrow while it's still on the premium screen. Did the same with A Quiet Place: Day One... it only had one week on them iirc.

Saw it last night in IMAX. Really hated it.
