DC Fandome -- 24 hour free DC comics, TV and movies virtual con

https://ew.com/events/dc-fandome-ann...er-woman-1984/

On Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. PT, Warner Bros will launch DC FanDome, a free global online event boasting big announcements and new content from across the DC's TV, movies, games, and comics, and only available for 24 hours, the studio announced Tuesday morning. As of right now, the massive endeavor will include the cast and creators of the following DC titles: Aquaman, The Batman, Batwoman, Black Adam, Black Lightning, DC Super Hero Girls, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, DC’s Stargirl, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Harley Quinn, the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League, Lucifer, Pennyworth, SHAZAM!, The Suicide Squad, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Teen Titans GO!, Titans, Watchmen, Young Justice: Outsiders, and of course, Wonder Woman 1984. You can also expect some news about WB Games and comics, too.How will all of this be organized, you ask? Well, according to the press release, there will be six "different, fully-programmed areas inside the virtual DC FanDome." The main one is the Hall of Heroes, which is where you'll be able to watch all of the panels, reveals, and special programming. Beyond that, though, you can visit DC WatchVerse, which has eve more panels, screenings, and never-before-seen content; DC YouVerse, which spotlights fan-generated content; DC InsideVerse, which focuses on the creative minds behind everything you love and will begin with an introductory video from DC Publisher/CCO Jim Lee, President of DC-Based Film Production Walter Hamada, and Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti; DC KidsVerse for younger fans; and DC FunVerse, where you can find merchandise, a comic book reader, shareables, and more.

DC FanDome will be available in at least 10 different languages — Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish — and will feature content for specific countries, too.

Mark your calendars

re: DC Fandome -- 24 hour free DC comics, TV and movies virtual con

More information about this event:

While San Diego Comic-Con is going virtual for the first time ever this summer, Warner Bros. will be seizing the moment to launch what is essentially its own Comic-Con this August. The studio announced today that DC FanDome will take place entirely online on August 22nd at 10am PDT and will be accessible around the world for 24 hours. DC FanDome will consist of six different, fully programmed areas including “Hall of Heroes” (Main Hall), DC WatchVerse, DC YouVerse, DC KidsVerse, DC InsiderVerse, and DC FunVerse. And the best part? It’s entirely free!

The event will immerse fans into the DC Multiverse, with new content reveals and announcements from WB Games, Film, TV and comics, as well as an unprecedented opportunity to hear from the cast and creators behind your favorite films and TV series. Below are a list of confirmed films and TV shows that will be participating:

Movies

Aquaman

The Batman

Black Adam

SHAZAM!

the SnyderCut

The Suicide Squad

WonderWoman 1984

TV

Batwoman

Black Lightning

DC Super Hero Girls

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

DC’s Stargirl

Doom Patrol

The Flash

Harley Quinn

Lucifer

Pennyworth

Supergirl

Superman & Lois

Teen Titans GO!

Titans

Watchmen

Young Justice: Outsiders

The press release does not specify what, exactly, we can expect from the above, but it very much sounds like these will be SDCC-esque panels in which the writers, directors, and/or stars of the aforementioned films and shows will offer teases and possibly sneak peeks. Indeed, this could be where we see our first footage from Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated The Batman or where Zack Snyder shares new details about his cut of Justice League premiering on HBO Max in 2021.

As for the areas, here’s what they entail:
  • DC WatchVerse: Here’s where you grab a seat, sit back and join our virtual audience and become completely engrossed in hours of must-see content from around the world. Everything from panels and exclusive screenings to never-before-seen footage, featuring cast, creators and behind-the-scenes crew from across DC Films, TV, Home Entertainment and Games.
  • DC YouVerse: Venture into this world where the FANS are the stars to see the most amazing user-generated content, cosplay and fan art from around the world, including, perhaps, your own.
  • DC KidsVerse: Need a way to entertain your kids for hours on end? We’ve got you covered inside a special world, which can be accessed directly at DCKidsFanDome.com. This area features a broad range of family-friendly activations for our younger fans.
  • DC InsiderVerse: This creativity-based world contains a centerpiece video featuring legendary artist and DC CCO/Publisher Jim Lee, President of DC-Based Film Production Walter Hamada, and creator of the DC TV Arrowverse, Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, welcoming fans with a 101-style introduction to the DC Multiverse. From there, go behind the scenes with the master artisans who bring DC to life in all its forms, from comic books to games, TV, movies, theme parks, consumer products and more.
  • DC FunVerse: Take your DC FanDome experience and gather cool shareables; check out our comic book reader; DIY cool WW84 Golden Armor and Batmobile kits; plus digital giveaways and a store filled with merchandise, including some limited-edition exclusives.
It’s unclear if all the content will be pre-recorded or if any of these will be happening live. We can also reasonably assume Warner Bros. will make some announcements about upcoming projects, just like they normally do at San Diego Comic-Con. Indeed, with Disney now having shifted almost all of its convention content over to its own convention D23 and even holding back Marvel Studios reveals for D23, it feels like this could be a new normal in which the major studios set up their own conventions apart from SDCC.

The content will be available in 10 languages including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish Brazil Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. Additionally, content will be programmed from specific countries will be in their native language.

For more information, head over to DCFanDome.com

Could be fun. Probably an excuse to announce upcoming movie projects since San Diego Comic Con is DOA this year.

DC Fandome is next Saturday for those of you who will be home and have the time to watch. The schedule was released today:

Again, from what has been reported, this is only available for 24 hours. This will not stay up for perpetuity. From the sound of this schedule, it will be live streamed and then re-aired. So I don't know if there will be an on demand option. Doesn't sound like it for those who can't watch live.

The full schedule is here:

https://schedule.dcfandome.com/

There are also going to be some free screenings for some of the new DC animated movies. That's a pretty cool add.

So view it, and plan your schedule accordingly.

I’d watch some of it, but I work so I’ll miss a lot of it. Kind of dumb that it may not be available to watch after the event finishes.

The Snyder Cut trailer will probably be the most anticipated piece of content coming from it.

So the original blurb was:
On Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. PT, Warner Bros will launch DC FanDome, a free global online event boasting big announcements and new content from across the DC's TV, movies, games, and comics, and only available for 24 hours, the studio announced Tuesday morning.
But it seems like it's TV, movies... that's it. Which I guess is understandable given what just happened but not even a single prerecorded panel about their comics? Or did I miss it?

The schedule is much bigger and does include comics. It's on the link on post 7. But you need to register for it.

There's 6 halls to view panels. The main one getting all the attention is movies.

Ah, cool!

Not thrilled about having to create yet another account to access but there's a whole kids section so I can at least get my kids excited.

And a kids and regular comic reader too...

I hope James Gunn will reveal some kind of footage from The Suicide Squad as well. Maybe a trailer? He's been in post production now long enough. His panel is 30 minutes, so I have to think they will show something.

I agree. Still, it seems they are showing encores of each event on Sunday

DC Fandome will now be split over 2 days. Saturday and September 12th.

https://nerdist.com/article/dc-fando...U-eINcUmHykUuI

Warner Bros. and DC Comics announced on Wednesday that DC FanDome will now be split between two days: August 22nd and September 12th. They state the decision is in response to fans wanting more time to take in all the content. So, August 22nd will be reserved strictly for Hall of Heroes content (which you can view on this schedule). It’s basically all the “big” DCEU panels. Then content on all the other “islands” will run on September 12th.

I have the same "problem" with this as I did for some of the other online conventions, I wish they had some kind of youtube option or something so it was easier to watch on a tv that doesn't have a computer attached to it (since I doubt the silk browser on fire tv will work). Ah well. Maybe chromecasting will be possible.

I think for this one, it has to be computer interfaced due to clicking the various graphics/animations that will lead you to a certain panel. I know for most here when you watch video content, you prefer to view it on a TV.

Yeah, for me, on a weekday I don't mind being holed up in my room with a computer on, but on the weekends I like to lounge on the couch with the kids (and they would enjoy a lot of this stuff). Maybe I'll just have them log on on a chromebook for the kids stuff while I watch some panels.

Since it's easier to data harvest the "attendees" at an event like this vs a traditional convention, one of the unintended benefits to the pandemic I see will be SDCC and others transitioning back to what they originally were all about.
Less movies, more focus on dealers/buyers of comics, art, collectibles, etc.

Would be cool if they start this whole event off with Gal Gadot leading the cast of the DC Universe in a singalong of John Lennon's "Imagine."

I’ve heard a rumor that a Batman Beyond movie will be announced at Fandome. Kind of would make sense if Keaton is returning for the Flashpoint movie.
