That was my question as well. I don’t remember if BvS was filmed with an IMAX aspect ratio in mind.

Judging by that short clip, it looks like the top and bottom of the frame open up rather than the sides being cut off. I wasn’t totally against the 1.33:1 ratio (I don’t recall what the exact ratio is for IMAX) but I’m buying into it more after seeing that clip.

Also, IMAX ratios are a bit different, depending on how it's shot. The IMAX 70mm film is 1.44:1, whereas IMAX digital 70mm is 1.89:1. So I'm guessing he filmed all IMAX stuff on film.

No, it was just the reds I think. The Blu-ray is correct. The 4K was not according the news.

Funny thing about the rerelease of BvS is that they kept the same name for both releases - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition. The only change is the cover.

Maybe they'll phase out the old version, since it's tehcnically incorrect? Hmmmm, the old version may become a collector's item now.

So it is in IMAX, but not in theaters?

Sounds like it would be good to watch when I go back to Mississippi. I have the projector set up down there. Not sure if this (BvS) is worth watching on TV.

I am so confused on Justice League and now this ... I was better off when I wasn’t checking in on this thread. Somebody just poke me when there is something to actually watch.

Not that confusing. Current plans to release on HBO Max. Down the road Snyder wants to release it to IMAX theaters (including the B&W version), then further down the road a physical release. This is from a chat with Snyder during the IGN virtual con a couple of weeks ago.

Yea. But is it good?

I hope Zack Snyder can make an DCU that everyone loves. I'm optimistic about Justice League. But otherwise I just don't care.

I might also be one of the few people who enjoyed Wonder Woman 2's innocent and family-friendly plot.

Zach has had a few movies done to try and make this work. It hasn’t. They need to retool and have someone take over the DCU and put it in a different direction.

He can have his own corner of the multiverse if it doesn't put a stranglehold on other projects, but I doubt that's what anyone really envisions by a seminal JL universe.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021, D: Snyder) -- HBO Max Exclusive

I know someone who saw this early and said it was great. He said it does a much better job of fleshing our Cyborg, The Flash and Steppenwolf.

That said, I have zero interest in any of them as characters. And the aspect ratio remains laughable. But maybe it won’t be the dumpster fire the trailers make it appear to be at this point, so that’s something!

The early buzz has been very positive from the little I’ve gathered. Granted I’m not sure if it’s all just Snyder fans who would praise the film regardless. Looking forward to Monday to seeing some more reactions and later next week watching it myself.

The 4K disc will probably be released in May sometime. I've seen some listings that have May as a release date for the 4K disc.

I wonder if they'll update the previous digital version, or keep them separate? Will my Itunes copy suddenly become this new release? I'm a Snyder fan, but I have to admit this is getting a little ridiculous.

I think that's what's going to happen. I only have the HD digital version on iTunes and am expecting it to turn into the remastered version at some point. If it doesn't, then I'll just watch it on HBO MAX.

Doubtful. They've never released anything at midnight. It's usually the day of at 12pmEST and 9am PST. It's been like that since WW84.
