Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021, D: Snyder) -- HBO Max Exclusive

Re: Justice League (2017, D: Snyder and Whedon) S: Gal Gadot, et al
But you ARE allowed to disagree. NO ONE said you can't. I simply asked for clarification on your post. NO ONE is shutting down your popular opinion. If you feel that someone asking you questions about your opinion means you're being shut down. I'm not sure what else to say. Because that is NOT what is happening here. You admitted you didn't get why anyone would want the cut and have positive expectations based on your opinion that snyder screwed up MoS and BvS. Again, no one says you can't think that. I asked if your feelings on the matter should dictate how others should feel about the cut.

Exactly. If you (Giantrobo) want to continue the discussion in an effort to persuade me (a non-Snyder fan who thinks he's mucked up the DCU big time) that a Snyder cut of the JL film would be worthwhile, go for it. It could possibly be a good discussion. But at the moment, I personally can't fathom how anyone would expect it to be any good. But that is not me saying that therefore no one is allowed to want it or have high expectations for it.

No it wasn't. It was a simple question. He answered it and the convo moved to his threat to leave if people are going to disagree with him or "not allow him to disagree".

You responded to my dissenting opinion with "So no one's allowed to want this?" which was inferring something I didn't say at all. My not understanding someone else's desire for something is not me dictating what others should want, it's me not understanding it based on my own opinions which I then explained. My not wanting something -- my offering a differing opinion on a supposed discussion forum -- is not the same as dictating how other should feel about something. I certainly hope that's not how you respond to everyone on this forum who has a different opinion than yours.
Sure. Anyway. Stick around.

Kinda surprised she’s on that bandwagon. Might just want to show Snyder and the fans support I guess. Curious if WB will ever come out and say anything officially one way or another.

She probably never gets the role without Snyder, so of course she's loyal.

Yeah, but wasn’t there an interview with Gadot and Jenkins where they sort of bashed the portrayal of the character in Batman V Superman? She probably is still thankful to him for having given her the chance though.

Affleck tweeted the hashtag too. Almost seems like a coordinated marketing thing that could amount to something. But who knows.

I’d watch it. IbJoel tagged the Rand influence and I agree. I don’t ‘like’ much of Snyder’s DC stuff, but find it fascinating and delightfully hard to look away from.

Someone will still need to pay to have it go through millions in post production. Is it worth it for WB?

Although reminding people of all the actors they just fired in this universe doesn't sound like the best idea either.

I still think putting it on HBO Max would make the most sense. Could be a good thing to tie into the launch. Either that or possibly a physical release.

If they just throw it on HBO Max, someone somewhere is going to fucking pirate it. Then that's millions in wasted money and time to even bother doing it.
Yes I know every fricking show/movie gets pirated, but this is something that the online nerd community has been begging for and WB as of right now as no interest in doing it. So why would they waste their time if these nerds just want to wait for someone to steal it for them?

Well I can’t see it being worth a theatrical re-release either. Why would they go through all that extra effort to get it into theaters and market it and stuff? Unless it was like a Fathom Events deal where it was really limited showings.
HBO Max would seem like the logical place to put it in my opinion. I don’t see why it’s that likely to get pirated. It’s a niche group of fans who really want it in the first place. It’s not like it’s suddenly going to be the hot new movie to check out when people saw a version and weren’t that impressed. If anything fans who are that desperate to see it can probably get in on a free trial or get the service for a month or whatever and cancel.

Whatever Snyder's version is from what I heard is basically an assembly cut put together to show the studios. It probably needs more editing and maybe $10-20M in post production for special effects, ADR and such. It's a big investment for a movie that barely broke even.

But the thing is Snyder's version is incomplete. Remember, he finished principal photography on the movie and then left shortly afterwards when his daughter died. He wasn't around for any post production or reshoots, which were all done by Whedon. A theatrical re-release makes absolutely no sense. Nobody outside of a really really small group would pay to see it. It's fast approaching 3 years old now.

I think what’s making the release the Snyder cut movement more real now is how many people involved with it who are coming out in support of it. I mean you’ve got most of the main cast trying to push for it plus Snyder obviously as well as others who worked on the film. It’s not just a group of Snyder DC fans now, and more information seems to be out there indicating the Snyder cur was further along then we were led to believe. It’ll obviously still be a cost to WB if they ever pursue finishing it, and maybe they ultimately won’t release it. I think they’ll at least address it at some point though as it’s becoming a higher profile thing now.

Of all the DC things you're a "hater" on, why can't this be one?
