Why are you acting surprised? He announced he was stepping down and not renewing his contract a while ago.

He was supposed to stay on until 2021 I think. I just hope it brings some change to what I hate about modern day Disney.

He's still with the company, at least for a while longer.

He's not "Out" That makes it sound like he was terminated, which he wasn't. He was always planning to retire once his contract was up. They already had a succession plan for him and he's finishing his contract under a different title with less responsibilities now.

This new guy Chapek is taking over his CEO responsibilities now.

And the company grew under his leadership. Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Iger. Same goes with how Marvel exploded under Disney's takeover. The MCU became a humongous film phenomenon and moneymaker.

and Disney Plus was developed under Iger. That's the future for Disney and consumers getting their media.

Disney is in better shape now than it was back under Michael Eisner's reign.

Yeah -- was a long planned CEO transition, he's still an executive board member through 2021. Then he gets to go back to his vaults of money.

He's done well with Disney overall, Kennedy was picked by Lucas and well that lined up amazingly well with his Lucasfilms choices of the years leading up to his exit.

It'll likely take a few years before you see any real changes under the new regime.

And if you have Disney Plus, do yourself a favor and watch The Imagineering story. It's an 6 part documentary on the history of Disney, including the parks, the movie studio, TV, and about their leadership through the years.

It explores their history good and bad. It's not some biased propaganda piece only designed to make them look good. You will see that the company grew under Iger and survived a lot of turmoil through the years.

Also, from the SEC Filing:

"The Chief Executive Officer of the Company shall report to you" makes it sound like he got promoted

I know this but KK betrayed Lucas with what she did to Star Wars and the fan base. Also vaulting the Fox film library and keeping those movies out of revival houses is what I'm mad about with modern day Disney.

Yeah that's been part of Disney's anti-compete for ages now, well before Iger and it should go away. As it stands, only theaters that show first run Disney/20th movies are not allowed to show the revivals -- and they review the others (theaters w/ first run) on a case by case still.

Dedicated revival houses and ones that dont show first run Disney/Fox are exempt.

Not to mention, why would they allow a bunch movies in a library they just acquired be screened. They have only owned 20th Century a year. They need to take stock of their assets and come up with their own terms and agreements for things like that, not piggy back off what the old company was doing. If it goes on for years, well that’s another story.

Chapek has a reputation for being cheap and cutting costs wherever possible, so shareholders are gonna love him... those of us who hope for new creative directions within Disney not so much.

Not to shabby of a rein (purely from a shareholder's perspective).

Disney now controls almost everything and has a monopoly on the entertainment world under his reign.

Hope this leads to their downfall

He had a very productive tenure. The acquisitions and expansions during his term are astonishing.

No they don’t. They’ve just been really strategic and successful.

Pshaw, but none of that can compare to Cinderella II, Little Mermaid 8, Lion King 2 and 2/3rds, 112 Dalmatians and Home on the Range Oven. Long live Eisner!

But seriously, Disney acquired Pixar under Iger as well.

You really don't know jack or understand how business works, especially a very successful one.

Just go back watching to drooling to every bimbo you see on TV.

Well, other than acquiring Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, The Simpsons, Hulu, and Fox Entertainment, and launching Disney+ and ESPN+, and taking good care of the Muppets and ABC, what has Bob Iger done for Disney?

It’s like Iger is a real life Thanos and was collecting his own infinity stones.

By gaining the whole world, Disney has lost its soul. It (Disney)is now bland and lifeless as a McDonald's Big Mac.

I thought that Lucas betrayed the fanbase. "Lucas raped my childhood!" said a million fanboys.

Meanwhile in the financial newspapers . . .
