The movie is a metaphor for the Irish Civil War - while using the war as the backdrop in the film.
Much like "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover", you can't take it at face value, otherwise the premise would be absurd.

I liked In Bruges, but I found this one so much better.

When you think about it like that it all makes perfect sense. Not knowing which side was in the right, the absurdity of cutting off your fingers so you had more time to play a violin, etc.

Just watched it for the first time. Loved it. Was really moved by it. So so sad, but also funny in parts. And I low-key hated Three Billboards, besides the McDormond performance. Going to have to sit with this for a while. Really thought it was special, though I am unlikely to revisit it any time soon.

So for those wondering, the movie takes place during the Irish civil war (as clearly pointed out in the film) and the purpose of the movie is to show the civil war going on between two ex-friends. I was expecting much, much better from all the hype I heard on this. I don't think Gleason will ever top his performance in the Gurad either.

With that said, Farrell was outstanding in this - he really felt like an annoying friend and a completely different person in this movie.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it.

All the performances were great, but I really loved Kerry Condon in this.
