Saw this last night. Absolutely loved it.
Wonderful performances from Farrell, Gleeson, Condon and Keoghan.
Thematically, there's a lot to unpack here and I hope for the chance to re-visit the film again soon.

Can’t wait until Tuesday to finally see this on HBO . You almost can’t find anyone to say a bad word about it

Wow! Just wow. Beautiful in look and emotion. Poignant. Made with such finesse. They all and this picture should seriously be considered come Oscar time. Just an exquisite piece of work. Master craft in film making. McDonagh has never disappointed me. Absolutely loved it. Oh, and do yourself a favor and put the subtitles on. I didn’t understand a fecking thing. 😜

I watched it again tonight and loved it even more the second time.
As much as In Bruges is an all time favorite of mine, Banshees is easily McDonagh’s best screenplay.
And this has been a hell of year for Farrell. Four fantastic and wildly different performances. He is just one the best working today.

Enjoyed this for what it was. Kinda hard to market a comedy about dirty people walking around to pubs talking a lot.
It was well written but wow there wasn’t much to this. Farrell was really great.

I like that aspect. Proves compelling character drama and comedy can be spun out of even a very simple premise like "I don't want to be your friend anymore". As someone noted upthread, I think a lot of people can identify -- at least in part -- with either or both of these characters at some point in their lives (though hopefully not to the extremes of Gleason's character). I loved the fact that this didn't really play out in conventional 'movie' fashion. Felt a bit more real because of it. Towards the end, I was actually hoping they wouldn't tie a neat little bow on everything.

This is a great movie. The first half I thought it might wind up as my favorite of 2022...the second half is darker and, hence, not as much fun, but it's still in my top 5 for the year.
If you're on the fence about watching it, don't let the odd title and the fact that it's a period piece keep you from seeing it. It's really worth your time.

Can't add much that hasn't been said. Except turn on the subtitles.

What a wonderful film. I didn’t get the chance to see it in the theater, so my wife and I just caught it on HBO Max tonight. It was every bit as good as I had hoped, though sadder than I had expected. The entire cast was doing some of their best work and the script and direction were just about perfect.
This, After Yang, The Batman and The North Water? I’d especially recommend the last of those to any Farrell fans. It’s available to stream on AMC Plus and he puts in an incredible turn as a beast of a villain.

One of the many layers of this movie I enjoyed was the many shots of the animals looking out into the camera/audience. The timing of the one of the two goats was such a fortunate one for the filmmakers to happen to catch.
I laughed a lot during the first hour, but the next day I still feel haunted by the movie, and likely will for the next little while.

Watched this last night and loved it as well. Can't add anymore to this thread.
Except that now I'm itching to rewatch In Bruges but it's only PVOD and not streaming anywhere. Boo!

Yeah, agreeing with everyone here, great fucking movie.
Makes me wanna go watch 'In Bruges' again. It's been too long.

Colin and Brendan need to always make movies together. As has already been said, this was perfection. The entire cast, writing, score, direction, location. Loved it all.

Great film. In Bruges is still better by a mile but thoroughly enjoyed it.

I finally got around to seeing this and agree with most of the posts. It really is a fantastic movie. I identified more with Colin Farrell’s character but also understand Gleeson’s character too. I wonder if I reWatch this movie in 20 years or so if I’ll identify more with Gleeson’s character?
A lot of humor but not laugh-out-loud funny EXCEPT the first confessional scene. That one actually made me laugh out loud.

Strange movie. Not really sure how I should take it. Comedy? Drama? The plot point with the fingers was straight-out David Lynch weirdness. I'm thinking "mental health issues," but the movie never really went there.
