Was Whipped really a Oscar worthy movie? JK Simmons was good but that was not probably his best work.

Not a big fan of TSN, but his best film Zodiac didn't even get one nomination.

Maybe this should be in the “Unpopular Opinion” thread but I’ve always found Zodiac to be an insufferable bore.

And if that opinion doesn’t do it for you, I also think The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is Fincher’s best film.

I really liked this movie until
Spoiler:
the car crash on the way to the concert near the end of the film
which was so cliched and stupid, I laughed out loud. I still think it's a "good" movie with a great performance by JK though.

I love the end of Django because you get to see a bunch of slavers get ganked. I can take or leave the QT scene.

When is The Social Network going to win Best Picture? Hell, David Fincher is still without an Oscar.

Have we mentioned TRON yet? Didn't it get passed over for VFX awards because they were computer generated and not hand-drawn? And now every single movie, regardless of genre, uses CGI in some way, if even to erase a boom mic from a scene.
That kinda thing goes to show the Academy was always behind the curve.

It wasn't nominated for effects, which is totally ridiculous. But it wouldn't have won anyways going up against E.T, which was the biggest grossing film of all time at that time. The space ship looks cheesy today (and even did back then) but the alien effects hold up really well.
