Soundtracks You Like from Movies You Don't Like

So, are there any soundtracks to movies you like from movies you don't? I would pick Magnolia. It has an amazing soundtrack, but the movie leaves me cold and bored. I also like the theme song by The Spinners for Spaceballs even though I never found the movie funny. How about you?

Re: Soundtracks You Like from Movies You Don't Like

I used to love soundtracks as a kid and about five years ago got back into listening and collecting them. Some of my favorites are for films I'm only lukewarm about, absolutely hate, or have never even seen.

All these are stuff I own- Not every title below is something I don't like, but the scores are too good not to highlight, and -for something like Blue Lagoon, for example- there are plenty of people who would pass it by simply because it's considered a lousy movie.

Titles in bold are among my favorite scores.

Alexandre Desplat
Valerian And The City Of 1000 Planets
Spoiler:

Basil Poledouris
Big Wednesday
Spoiler:

On Deadly Ground
Spoiler:

The Blue Lagoon
Spoiler:

Bruce Broughton
All I Want For Christmas (was surprised how much I enjoyed this one)
Spoiler:

Lost In Space
Spoiler:

Claude Bolling
The Awakening
Spoiler:

Cliff Martinez
Spring Breakers
Spoiler:

David Arnold
The World Is Not Enough (I have no affection for the Brosnan Bond films, with this one being a particular disappointment. The score, however, I'd put right up with the best of the series. Great listen from start to finish recalling the heyday of Barry)
Spoiler:

Frank De Vol
Hustle
Spoiler:

Gabriel Yared
L’Amant [The Lover] (this has become one of my absolute, all time favorite scores. I was amazed how much I loved this one, especially since the score never really stood out to me when watch the film itself)
Spoiler:

Gato Barberi
Last Tango In Paris
Spoiler:

Geroges Delerue
Her Alibi
Spoiler:

Partners
Spoiler:

The Pick-Up Artist
Spoiler:

Something Wicked This Way Comes (Rejected Score)
Spoiler:

Hans Zimmer
Man Of Steel
Spoiler:

Jerry Goldsmith
Basic Instinct
Spoiler:

The Mummy
Spoiler:

Our Man Flint/ In Like Flint
Spoiler:

John Barry
Legend Of The Lone Ranger
Spoiler:

Howard The Duck (this plays like a Barry Greatest Hits collection, as I hear snatches from his entire oeuvre in it including some Bonds, King Kong, Body Heat among others)
Spoiler:

The Betsy
Spoiler:

Deadfall (Short, but a fantastic listen. A perfect example of "hated the movie, loved the score")
Spoiler:

You Only Live Twice
Spoiler:

John Williams
A.I.
Spoiler:

E.T. (Loved this movie back in '82. It hasn't worn well for me since, and the thought of rewatching it makes me queasily sick to my stomach. As off-putting as I find the film now, I can't deny how much I still love the score. One of my all time JW faves)
Spoiler:

Earthquake
Spoiler:

Minority Report
Spoiler:

1941
Spoiler:

Lalo Schifrin
The Concorde: Airport ’79
Spoiler:

Return From Witch Mountain
Spoiler:

Maurice Jarre
Mandingo
Spoiler:

The Only Game In Town
Spoiler:

Michael Small
The Driver
Spoiler:

Michel Legrand
The Summer Of ’42
Spoiler:

Francis Lai
Love Story (a far better score in total than just the over exposed main theme would suggest)
Spoiler:

Elmer Bernstein
Saturn 3 (Like Blue Lagoon, I don't exactly hate the film- but almost no one would consider it a "good" movie. Great score though, including early phrasing that would be expanded into the lovely Taarna theme from Heavy Metal a year later)

I’d say the St. Elmo’s Fire Soundtrack, the songs and the score, are much better than the movie.

I did not hate this movie but the music is more memorable than the movie

Ocean's 12 - the worst movie of the Ocean's Trilogy because it got insufferably self-referential and in-jokey but the soundtrack is the best of the bunch with a lot of great tracks by David Holmes like this one:

The Village is not a great movie, but the soundtrack is outstanding.

I haven't seen the movie, but damn that's a gorgeous piece of music! "Man in Motion" is great, too.

I never really cared for Roland Joffe's The Mission, but I think Morricone's score is one of the greats of all time.
