Amsterdam (2022, D: David O. Russell) -- S: Bale, Robbie, Washington, De Niro, Taylor-Joy, Swift
EXCLUSIVE: A hot project is coming together that is expected to draw a strong cast. David O. Russell has written and will direct an untitled film that will star Christian Bale. The film is on a fast track at New Regency through its overall deal with Fox/Disney.
Plot specifics are being kept close to the vest. I’m hearing the project is eyeing an April production start. Matthew Budman is aboard as producer.
The movie would reteam Bale and Russell who worked together on 2010’s The Fighter. Bale won the Supporting Actor Oscar that year, the first of his four Oscar noms. The film scored seven Oscar noms overall including for Best Picture and Directing for Russell.
Bale is coming off starring opposite Matt Damon in Fox’s Ford v Ferrari which picked up four Oscar nominations this week including Best Picture. Russell’s last feature directing effort was 2015’s Joy also at Fox.
New Regency backed this season’s Oscar-nominated Little Women as well as The Lighthouse. It also produced 2018’s hit Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
Russell is repped by CAA, and Bale by WME.

Margot Robbie is teaming with filmmaker David O. Russell for his next feature. The actress has joined Russell's untitled drama, which also stars Christian Bale.
Plot details are being kept under wraps for the project, which is Russell's first feature since the 2015 Jennifer Lawrence vehicle Joy. He is set to write and direct the new film from an original idea. New Regency will produce and distribute via its deal with 20th Century Studios. Matthew Budman is producing after working with Russell on American Hustle and Joy.

As with most David O. Russell films, I look forward to this having tons of critical praise heaped upon it only for it to leave me extremely disappointed after watching it.
Joy was terrible so this can only be an improvement. Right?

Chivo is back! Crazy he hasn't worked on a feature in like 5 years.
https://deadline.com/2020/03/emmanue...ie-1202873535/
EXCLUSIVE: Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki is signing on to be the cinematographer on David O. Russell’s new untitled New Regency film. The pic is untitled and the logline is being kept under wraps, but Christian Bale, Michael B. Jordan and Margot Robbie are so far set to star in a film expected to begin production sometime in the spring. It is based on an original idea by the multi-hyphenate writer-director-producer.
Deadline doesn’t often make a fuss about a Director of Photography taking on a movie, but Lubezki has won the Academy Award three times in his last six outings, starting with Gravity and then Birdman and The Revenant. He worked with New Regency on the latter two features, as well as Carne y Arena, the virtual reality installation that explored the human condition and challenges facing immigrants. Gravity was directed by Alfonso Cuarón; Birdman and The Revenant by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

EXCLUSIVE: John David Washington has been set to star with Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in David O. Russell’s new film for New Regency. The pic doesn’t have a title or a logline, but Deadline can reveal it will shoot in Los Angeles in January.
Three-time Oscar winning cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki also is aboard. The project is based on an original idea from the multihyphenate writer-director-producer. New Regency will produce, and Matthew Budman will also produce. The film will be distributed via New Regency’s deal with 20th Century Studios.

I guess he is replacing Jordan.

since 2010, he's had The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and Joy (which i liked). and has been personally nominated for 5 Oscars, those movies nominated at least 15 times and won 3 for acting. if 10 years is too old to be considered on fire lately, then my bad, but all the greatness in 10 year span is not that far off to me and pretty recent...

Re: Amsterdam (2022, D: David O. Russell) -- S: Bale, Robbie, Washington, De Niro, Taylor-Joy, Swift
Russell’s new film now has a title, Amsterdam, and was described from the stage as an original crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history. The three friends are Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington, a doctor, nurse and attorney “who met in Belgium.” They have a scene with Robert De Niro as he quizzes them on their respective backgrounds.
“A lot of this actually happened,” promises the teaser that features period garb for the 1930s with a dancing sequence and another scene with Taylor Swift acting opposite Bale, Washington and Chris Rock as the four stand over a casket with “a dead white man in a box” (says Rock).
Russell also gathered Anya Taylor-Joy, Mike Myers, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldaña, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Andrea Riseborough, Alessandro Nivola and Matthias Schoenaerts, among others. It marks Russell’s first film since 2015’s Joy and he’s credited as writer, director and producer. It hails from Disney, 20th Century Studios, New Regency Prods. and Forest Hill Entertainment. Amsterdam hits theaters Nov. 4.
