Re: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024, D: Wes Ball)

This movie looks like it will be good. I went to see the past two with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with both of them. I'm sure this one will be enjoyable as well.

I'll be running a free advanced screening of the movie in Durham, NC on Tuesday, May 7th. If anyone in the Raleigh/ Durham North Carolina area would like to go to the screening, you can send me a message on here asap and I can send you a link and promo code to getting free screening passes on Gofobo. I should have at least five screening passes left, each of which are good for two people. The screening starts at 7pm, but you would want to get there and in line at least an hour early as they sometimes give out more passes than seats available, so it becomes first come first served. But, it is a great way to see the movie free.

There's rumors out that the home media version will contain a "raw" version, showing all the motion suit actors before the apes are overlaid on them.

Itís not a rumor. The director is the one who said this.

I liked the first three but canít remember anything that happened after the first.

This is such a weird franchise to revisit.

I just wrapped up watching the first 3. I barely remember War at all. I may have never finished it in the first place.

This might be one of the most interesting movie bonus features I've heard of in a long time.

Most interesting? No, I don't think I'd watch more than a few minutes of it to be honest. Would trade it in a heartbeat for a substantive 'making of' feature.

I would trade it for a decent movie.

Re: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024, D: Wes Ball)

this was pretty decent entry in the series. maybe the start of a new trilogy? I thought the movie was just merely ok. there wasn't much action and the big baddie looked like he was straight from Tim Burton's PotA. He was kind of cliched and I thought there would be some semblance of a legacy with Caeser, but I guess he didn't have any heirs. too bad. that beginning scene was pretty impactful. but, over all this was ok.

You go from "Pretty decent" to just "Okay"

It's understandable. He probably got confused between the couple of threads he had to post asking if he liked it or not.

Aren't they pretty much the same?

Anyway, I liked this if slightly underwhelmed. Not as great as the trilogy, but a good movie.

Three letters longer than Rise of the Planet of the Apes, or War for the Planet of the Apes, or Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Three very clunky letters I guess.
