What's the best animated film of the 21st Century?

The past 20 years have seen the transition of animation firmly from hand-drawn into computer-imaged, with a few exceptions. From this list, which is the top feature from 2000 to now?

Note: Because of both the dominance of Disney/Pixar and to showcase both a variety of styles and the ease of adaptation into different languages of animation, we have an expanded voting list.

Many good ones to choose for different reasons.

Yeah, many good choices. I might go with Kubo.

Only one anime title? I can think of a few dozen more, each of which I prefer to American animated features from this century.

Off the top of my head:
MILLENNIUM ACTRESS
TOKYO GODFATHERS
STEAMBOY
GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE
SUMMER WARS
WOLF CHILDREN
KIMI NO NA WA (aka YOUR NAME)
IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD
FROM UP ON POPPY HILL
WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE
THE ANIMATRIX

+ nearly every Pokemon movie.

And from Hong Kong, STORM RIDER: CLASH OF EVILS (2008), one of the best non-Japanese animated features I've ever seen:

Based on the poll options: Extremely tough choice for me between "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Into the Spider-verse".

None of the others listed in the poll even come close to those two aside from "Spirited Away" in my opinion.

Also Paprika, which I thought was brilliant.

But my vote still goes for Spirited Away. It's one of my favorite movies of the century.

Take it up with RT. I agree that In This Corner of the World is excellent, but you only get one vote (and if I hadn't made an effort, even Spirited Away wouldn't have made the list) ;-)
Check out Metacritic's ranking, though: https://www.metacritic.com/browse/mo...view=condensed

Spider-Verse and Spirited Away for me.

Top two would be Kubo & Spider-verse. I give the edge to Kubo.

Honorable mentions not in the poll: Lilo & Stitch & Emperor's New Groove

How to Train Your Dragon is my favorite CGI movie ever so it’s an easy choice for me.

Though, I gotta admit, Into the Spider-verse was pretty damn fun!

I love New Groove. Cracks me up every time I watch it.

Cloudy w/ a chance of Meatballs - just because it was my first 3D experience in the comfort of my own home and i was in awe.

Wall-E for me, it's been one of my all time favorite movies since it came out. Of the ones listed I'd say Toy Story 3 because it was the perfect end to their story with Andy and it just hit me in the feels.

Very surprised Coraline and Wall-E didn't make it that high up

I didn't include Paddington 2, specifically because it is primarily live-action. But keep your eyes peeled for next week's poll ;-)

The Emperor's New Groove and Fantastic Mr. Fox are the most watched animated films in our house of the past several years, so I'll go with those.

Moana, followed very closely by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

guess I need to watch Moana and Kubo first

A young person must take to the sea on a voyage of self-discovery. Despite that similarity, both tell very different stories and both are very much worth watching.

Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Toy Story 3 was excellent, but Into the Spiderverse was just a huge surprise that kind of came out of nowhere, I just HAD to vote for it in a close call over Toy Story 3.

Re: What's the best animated film of the 21st Century?

Moana has a terrible script. It’s talky as fuck, moves too slow, and has redundant exposition.

I couldn’t finish Spiderverse. What was that shit? The kid was a tagger and I’m like “When does Spider-Man start happening?”

The choices in the poll are extremely limited. A lot of them are straight up bad films. How to Train Your Dragon? Why?
