The Last Full Measure (2010) - Willis, Freeman, Duval, Hunnam

Directed by Todd Robinson.

Here's the synopsis:

An ambitious government bureaucrat is given an unwelcome assignment that could harm his carefully orchestrated career, to complete a long-unfinished report on whether the nation's highest award for bravery should, after 40 years, be given to a fallen hero. His investigation leads him down a path he could not have imagined and changes his life and the lives of others in the process.

Starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Charlie Hunnam, Robert Duvall, Lawrence Fishburne, & Andy Garcia.

Great cast.

No offense..but when was the last time Andy Garcia had people giving a damn about him? He wasn't much in Ocean's 11-13. I think he was in Smokin' Aces (which I've yet to see...but one day when I get to that point for this film).

Yeah, that cast & plot is doing nothing for me. Willis hasn't been good in a movie (Sin City aside) since Unbreakable & Morgan Freeman is the most boring actor alive & Duvall hasn't made a decent movie in over a decade (Open Range was a paint-by-the-numbers Western).

I enjoyed Freeman in Wanted last year.

His latest film, Get Low, has been getting excellent reviews.

Crap.

I thought this was about the final film in the Civil War trilogy from the Shaara books. I was so stoked when I saw the thread title.

Man I hope that final Shaara book gets made, sucks that this film used that title.

Charlie Hunnam This sounds pretty good although Todd Robinson directed another movie with a solid cast a few years back that didn't fare so well (Lonely Hearts).

The Last Full Measure (2020) -- S: Stan, Jackson, Hurt, Harris, Plummer

THE LAST FULL MEASURE tells the true story of William Pitsenbarger (Jeremy Irvine), a Vietnam War hero of the highest order, an Air Force medic who personally saved over sixty men. Offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of the combat zone, Pitsenbarger stayed behind to save and defend the lives of his fellow soldiers before making the ultimate sacrifice in the bloodiest battle of the war. Twenty years later, respected Pentagon aide Scott Huffman (Sebastien Stan) on a career fast-track is tasked with investigating a Congressional Medal of Honor request for Pitsenbarger made by his commanding officer (William Hurt) and his parents (Christopher Plummer & Diane Ladd). Huffman seeks out the testimony of Army veterans who witnessed Pitsenbarger’s extraordinary valor, including Takoda (Samuel L. Jackson), Burr (Peter Fonda) and Mott (Ed Harris). But as Huffman learns more about Pitsenbarger’s courageous acts, he uncovers a high-level conspiracy behind the decades-long denial of the medal, prompting him to put his own career on the line to seek justice for the fallen airman.

This movie was shot in 2017

Will be released January 24, 2020

Sounds just like Courage Under Fire, the Ed Zwick film.

I saw this trailer last night. It has a hell of a cast, but it looks so cheaply made. Maybe it was just the way the trailer was put together.

The budget was $20 million. So it WAS cheaply made. Each of the "big" stars only spent two or three days shooting, to keep the costs down.
