Your Top Ten of 2019

It's that time of year again. With 5 weeks left in 2019, we might as well start compiling our Top Ten of the year. Obviously alot of award quality films will be released between now and the end of 2019, but we should have a good idea of how are Top 10 is going to look.

My current Top 10 is

1) The Art of Self-Defense
2) Parasite
3) Knives Out
4) Joker
5) Avengers: End Game
6) Doctor Sleep
7) Rocketman
8) Midsommar
9) Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
10) Booksmart

This list is pending viewings of The Irishman, 1917, Star Wars Episode 9, A Hidden Life, Uncut Gems, and Richard Jewell

I think it's been a pretty strong year for film, and after watching the above I suspect I will have a tough time leaving movies out of my list

That's a rough draft in no particular order. Some may or may not get weeded out, but my actual list won't be ready until next month sometime.

Ford v Ferrari
The Farewell
Parasite
Joker
Hustlers
Yesterday
John Wick: Chapter 3
Hotel Mumbai

Seeing Knives Out this week and will try to watch Booksmart on Hulu soon. I'm sure 1917 and Richard Jewell will also be contenders as well. Plus there's Queen and Slim, The Irishman and Bombshell

Re: Your Top Ten of 2019

I haven't seen too many prestige releases this year, waiting for streaming on a lot. So this may change a bit over the coming weeks.

Updated as of 1/23/2020. I still need to see a ton more non-mainstream flicks.
.
.
  1. Uncut Gems
  2. Parasite
  3. Knives Out
  4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
  5. Midsommar
  6. Fyre Fraud
  7. Ford v Ferrari
  8. The Lighthouse
  9. Ad Astra
  10. My Name Is Dolemite

Re: Your Top Ten of 2019

Only 1 and 2 are solid right now, everything else is tentative in order

1.) Color Out of Space
2.) The Irishman
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The Lighthouse
Avengers: Endgame
John Wick 3
Dolemite Is My Name
Apollo 11
Ad Astra

Still need to see:
Daniel Isn't Real
The Souvenir
In Fabric

Not counting as it's a re-edit but definitely one of the best films of the year:
Apocalypse Now: Final Cut. Much better than Redux at capturing the descent into primitive culture AND remaining engaging, but still a bit too long. The original theatrical cut is a masterpiece, this is a near masterpiece.

Crawl? That was a thoroughly mediocre monster flick. I liked it, but come one

Re: Your Top Ten of 2019

Top two are my favorites, rest in no particular order. A pretty average year overall with few stand outs. Biggest surprise i guess has been OUATIH. I have gotten to hate Tarantino and his ego fueled movies, and first time i saw it i found it fine, but i have actually now returned to it a few times and it has gotten better with each viewing. Di Caprio, who i tend to find very over estimated in talent had probably his best ever role and he was great in it. But not as good as Pitt who was fantastic.

1. Avengers: Endgame
2. Joker
3. Dragged Across Concrete
4. Shazam
5. Dolemite Is My Name
6. Spiderman: Far From Home
7. John Wick 3
8. Alita Battle Angel
9. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
10. Framing John Delorean
