Wasn't really excited until I saw Cage is playing Dracula. This could be amusing.

Cage as Dracula definitely the draw here.
Nicholas Hoult seems like he’s channeling a young Hugh Grant.

^Love that movie.
Didn't know anything about Renfield but saw the trailer and it looked like goofy fun. I'm in.

Haha at toying with Creep for a trailer.
I hope it is good. It looks like I'd expect it to look.

Caught this today and overall opinion: when the focus is on Dracula and Renfield, the movie is great. When it's focus is on anything else aside from Renfield's inner thoughts, the movie is pretty mediocre. Like others have said, it was like two different movie plots were merged in order to have something that actually reached 90 minutes. Cage as Dracula is golden, and Hoult brought back the comedic charm he showed in Warm Bodies. Awkwafina was pretty cringe, and so was her subplot. So..it's a mixed bag.

Caught a matinee with my fiancée today. We both liked it pretty well. It was a goofy, gory, good time. Liked the concept of the story and it provided some amusing moments.
Cage was great as Dracula even if he didn’t get a ton of screen time. I understand the movie is more about Renfield but I expected a little more of him. Still good though.
I also thought the opening was cool with the recreations of the classic Bela Lugosi style Dracula.
I also liked how it was fairly short. So many movies now days seem to like to drag on and on, but this being only an hour and a half was perfect.

I had a lot of fun watching this. Cage's Dracula is played straight, his character isn't behaving like they're in a comedy like What We Do In The Shadow. I didn't mind the Awkwafina sub-plot. This is the first thing I've seen her in since the fantastic The Farewell, so I was just happy to see her again.
I wonder if instead of compositing shots of Cage and Hoult into the Dracula 1931 footage, they used Deep Fake technology instead. I've seen that movie a bunch of times, and in all those shots they seem to be making the exact same facial gestures and movements that Lugosi and Frye did. To my memory, it looks too exact to just be the actors mimicing. When this comes out on video I'll be curious to put those shots from the two movies side by side for a closer look. Yes, I have that kind of time.

I think I’m going to wait until this hits Peacock. The reviews I’ve seen have been mixed and I haven’t really been all that excited about this. And looks like this was a financial bomb too. So it will hit Peacock pretty fast.

Renfield is all kinds of awesome. Think a darker, more violent, less comedic take on the tone for The Mask. That's kind of what you get here. It is ridiculously fun.
My wife and I loved it. Definitely picking this one up on Blu.

I didn't get a chance to see this right away (saw three other movies since it came out) and now it's relegated to that dreaded 6:00pm-hour time slot at my local AMC for the week. My guess is it's not going to get a later showtime anytime soon, so I may end up waiting, too bad.

This was so much fun. Cage still has it. His latest output (Pig, Spider-Verse, Unbearable…) has just been stellar, this included. He sure knows how to ham it up and plain have fun. Hoult was great as well. And Awkwafina playing serious? Hell yeah. This was a quick, breezy, little comedic take on the Dracula story. Very well done. And, some very cool kills.
