Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

I like them both but chose Raimi. Simply because heís been around longer and has a larger/more diverse filmography.

It's a close call. I went with Raimi but I suspect going forward that Wan will still churn out 2-3 more very watchable movies.

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

I think Wan is the better filmmaker. Insidious and The Conjuring are great examples of suspense and tension without cheap jumps scares or gore.

Raimi made some fun films but but I donít think heís got the same skill level.

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

Hmmm, I loved Aquaman but Furious 7 was one of the worst Furious movies. Raimi has A Simple Plan and Spidey 1/2.

I voted Raimi because he's closer to me in age, but I bet he's married, and I'm not gay anyway. Why do you want to know?

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

Well Sam Raimi has directed 11 films I really enjoy and James Wan has Seven.
Sam hasn’t made a movie in a while and I didn’t really enjoy his last.
James is responsible for Saw, but on the other hand he created the Saw franchise.
Furious Sevem was the first F&F I watched, but that was because of Kurt Russell, not James Wan.
Sam Raimi made Spider-Man 3........

i guess between the two, I will 100% attempt to watch a Raimi film based on name alone.

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

Raimi.

Saw and Insidious were fun movies for their tiny budgets, but I'm not a huge fan of his big budget output. Furious 7 and Aquaman were both a mess.
Raimi gave us the best live action Spider-man (#2), and has made a bunch of fun movies.

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

Raimi is more a producer nowadays. Drag Me to Hell was 10 years ago. His 2013 Oz movie was disappointing.

Maybe he's lost his directing mojo?

Raimi.

Future potential aside, Wan hasn't made a film as good as any of the "Evil Dead" trilogy.

Re: James Wan or Sam Raimi

I don't know who James Wan is, but Sam Raimi got shot about a thousand times in Miller's Crossing, so he gets my vote.
