It looks good, but there seems to be a tremendous amount of gun play. Is there some exaggerating going on to make this extra action packed?

I've enjoyed all of Kasi Lemmons' previous movies, so I was disappointed this only played one night at the local theatre last week when I couldn't go. It seems especially disappointing considering Harriet Tubman lived and continued her work here for most of the 1850's (supposedly she went back to the States because she was sick of the winters 
)

I wanted to like this movie, and I think that accounts for some of the positive reviews. It's the kind of movie that people say that they liked. While there are things in the movie that I did like, in the end I found it disappointing. Sometimes too on the nose, too melodramatic. Interesting subject deserving of a better film than this one.

saw it at a screening that included a descendant of one of her siblings giving a little talk before the showing.. He said there was one thing his family didn't agree with, an exageration I think, but didn't tell us exactly what it was or why they didn't like it

I watched this yesterday. It was fine, I suppose.
I like Cynthia Erivo. I think she was better in BTatER and Widows.

While the performances are good (especially Erivo's), I didn't think there was enough differentiation from other biopics that would warrant repeat viewings.
