Well, he’s Joaquin Phoenix. He’s rather quirky. Good actor, but socially awkward...

They showed an outtake from filming where he was cursing at a crew member and he wasn't happy about it being shown to the public.

I'm pretty certain it was a gag and he was in on it being shown.

I'm wondering if I'll go to a theater and see protests.

protests of what, a fictional character that doesn't really exist? there have been many other serial killer movies (real and fictional) and i don't remember hearing about protests...

Wow. Pretty amazing performance by Phoenix. I believe he's in every frame of this movie and I was rivited. Great score. While not overtly violent, when it does, it's powerful. Yes, it does borrow from King of Comedy and Taxi Driver.

But his laugh and the little hitch. Perfect. I really liked it.

Oh, a teaser trailer for Tenet was attached.

This was great. Saw a 70 mm screening, one of my favorite movies of the year so far probably right with Once Upon a Time. Loved the production design, everybody was great, including Phoenix obviously.

The performance and score is what I would recommend most about it. Too bad the trailer nearly gave everything away, but what can you do

Pretty mesmerising performance by Phoenix and gorgeous cinematography. Loved the slow, tense buildup as well as how this actually did tie into the Batman mythology. I would love to see a Batman film in this universe.

I liked it, but wasn't bowled over by it. Great performances and atmosphere.

The most interesting part was afterwards when a cop was standing guard in the lobby, and a police cruiser was parked right in front of the main entrance.

Re: Joker (Phillips, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

It was great. I see they portrayed Thomas Wayne as a scumbag Trump-type, which was weird to see since he's never been anything but a nice guy. Cool touch having the old school Warner Bros. logo at the beginning, too.

I'm sad that this is a one-shot. I would love if they kept it going for another installment. I think Phoenix will get a nomination, as will some of the technical stuff. The production design and cinematography were excellent.

We had a security guard posted at the entrance of the theater, but that was it.
