The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020, D: McG) -- Netflix
McG (Terminator Salvation, Rim of the World) took on the horror genre with The Babysitter, a slasher film that followed a lonely, 12-year-old boy who falls in love with his hot babysitter only to discover that she’s part of a satanic cult that wants to kill him.
Samara Weaving carried the entire film on her shoulders and returned for one final scare in a mid-credits sequence, while Judah Lewis also survived the coming-of-age slasher. As we suspected, Lewis is returning for The Babysitter 2, although Weaving is not.
We also learned that the slasher will also star Robbie Amell, Hana Mae Lee, Bella Thorne, Emily Alyn Lind, Andrew Bachelor, Ken Marino, Leslie Bibb, Carl McDowell, and Chris Wylde.
Dan Lagana is confirmed as the new screenwriter. For those of you unaware, Lagana is the writer-producer of Netflix’s must-see faux docuseries “American Vandal”. So that’s a good thing.
In the Mc-G-directed sequel, “Two years after defeating a satanic cult led by his babysitter Bee, Cole’s trying to forget his past and focus on surviving high school. But when old enemies unexpectedly return, Cole will once again have to outsmart the forces of evil.”
Shooting begins October 14th in Los Angeles.

Most on the forum seemed to like it.
Better than him making Rim of the World 2.

I thought the first one was surprisingly great, but looking at the cast list, didn’t many of those characters get killed? The first movie didn’t have any supernatural elements that I can remember, but I guess resurrection stuff is possible since they were in a Satanic cult.

That's kinda shitty of Weaving. She has one or two well-reviewed movies and now she's too good for the film that launched her? Eisenberg and Stone are back for Zombieland 2 and they became MUCH bigger stars in the interim. But whatever.

You may be overestimating the budget on this movie...

Maybe she just didn't want to do it? I liked the first movie, but it's not like it changed pop culture or many people except hardcore horror fans have heard of it. Or that Samara Weaving owes us her presence in a movie she was never contracted for...

I thought this was a sequel to the Jonah Hill Adventures In Babysitting knock off.
I wasnt aware of the first one. I’ll seek it out.

Launched her? No, it didn't. It's a tiny no-budget Netflix chiller.

Is it as weird as Tom just nonchalantly saying that of course Satanic cults can resurrect people?!
Because that... that is written with seemingly lots of certainty...

I just saw this is coming up on Netflix. Didn’t even realize I posted in this thread and don’t remember at all, but who knows. First one surprised and I loved the hell out of it, so I will definitely give it a shot. But, it’s also where I discovered and fell in love with Weaving, so...

Not as good as the first, but an alright sequel. Still brings the wild kills and gore.
I liked Jenna Ortega a lot on You, so she was a nice addition.
Everyone can relax, Weaving is included.
It seems like they are setting up for a third go around.

Dex beat me to the punch but I was only going to hint that Weaving has what you might call an extended cameo in the film but one that fits the story and is not just fan service. Also, I might consider this film slightly better than the original as Jenna Ortega’s addition to the cast really worked for me especially as I am a fan of hers from back when she was a Disney channel star (Stuck In The Middle).
The gore was indeed over the top but there was also a surprising amount of heart in the film especially towards the end as you learned what actually happened to certain key characters in the past.
I would definitely be down for a third film with most of the core cast hopefully intact. It seems to be a fan favorite as it was #1 and is now #2 on Netflix at the moment.

I really enjoyed this one and wouldn't mind a 3rd if they go that route. Jenna was a good addition and Im glad she is continuing to get work.

I thought this sequel was great. The film knows what it wants to be.
I don’t find Bella Thorne hot, but her dialogue (“I’m sexy jokes”) was cracking me up. And I liked that joke about sexy water in the desert
I liked the Terminator 2 style ending.
The dialogue about the four “sequels better than the original” in cinematic history was good. I think she was referring to: Godfather 2, Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2, and maybe......The Dark Knight?
I can think of more, like Winter Soldier, but it’s all debatable of course.
What do you think?

this was a lot of fun. certainly not as good as the original and i didn't expect it to be so, but i also didn't expect it to be as much fun as it was. the set up was great. the kid playing Cole was great and tell me the girl playing Melanie is not the younger version of Samara Weaving? Phoebe is cute as hell and it just brought the over-the-top gore like the first and i was pleasantly surprised, especially with the little twist at the end. definitely down for more if they keep generally the same formula. and did anyone catch the Pee Wee's Big Adventure reference when Phoebe exited the big rig and said "and I'll be sure to thank Large Marge" or something to that effect? i thought that was fun and probably a blink and you missed it reference and i don't think i have seen Pee Wee's Big Adventure in at least 20 years, but always remembered Large Marge for some reason. that was fun. just a fun movie all around.
