if you don’t know who this is, he’s not a critic. He plays for the Los Angeles Rams.

I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you that there is... probably not as ridiculous as the last Rambo movie, but it appears to be more cleverly done... I saw an article where a journalist asked if Sly was inspired by the movie "Home Alone" lol.

this one is review proof for me. the other 3 after First Blood got trashed and i love them all. just love the character and everything about it. this seems bloodier than Rambo which is hard to believe bc that was a pure gore fest and can't wait...

Just saw it. Pretty standard but thats kinda expected at this point of the series. Pretty gruesome at the end. Im not sure I knew who the heck John was living with on his ranch, his sister?

Just got back. I really wanted to love it, but it was just okay. I did really enjoy the last 40+ minutes. Pure carnage and mayhem.
Plot is razor thin (barely 90 minutes) and most of the characters, especially the villains, was very one note and cliched. The niece, although cute, was an idiot for making that trip to Mexico and trusting that gangster Chola chick friend of hers. And Rambo's initial strategy to try to get her back was stupid (hence getting his ass kicked) I really wanted Rambo to put a knife through that Chola bitches head who set up his niece.
But, the last 40+ minutes of Rambo going crazy and the really gruesome kills made it overall entertaining.
I'd probably give this a B-
and Rambo does live. They could continue it as it's a very open ended conclusion. But, they did show a montage of footage from the 1st movie through Rambo during the end credits.

They said that Rambo's sister died of cancer. I think that woman may have been a Nanny or housekeeper who helped John raise his niece.

Saw this last night, was better than the last one but not by much. My friend was falling asleep during it and I was pretty close to doing the same.

This was OK but a bit of a letdown. Besides the violence and score, it didn't really feel like a Rambo film. Rambo was very verbose. I suppose the point was that he had come out of his shell now since he had a family of sorts, but it was a bit much for Rambo. Felt more like the Stallone character from The Expendables.
He should've at least wore a headband in the finale to feel more like Rambo.
I saw one critic cite this as an example of the "white savior" trope, but considering he saves no one and even the journalist tells him killing the cartel won't do any good, not sure that description fits. Like someone mentioned above, his initial plan sucked, so some savior he was. I actually think it would have worked better if he had saved his niece. Kind of a downer that he didnt get the job done.
I swear at most 15 guys arrive at Rambo's compound but he kills around 50 total!
I personally enjoyed the fourth film a lot more. But, it's cool to see another Rambo on the big screen.

Just really bad character identity in this one. Who knew Rambo ever had a sister? None of the other movies indicated he did. Perhaps his PTSD played a role in him forgetting his family. And yeah, knew this girl was his niece going in, just think it was done piss poorly with an explanation.

I saw it last night and the ending felt like an R rated Home Alone. The scenes involving the cartel and sex trafficking are horrific and kind of made me sick to my stomach. This also felt like Taken: South of the Border Edition. I'd say 3.5/5 rating for me, the ending felt good for the series but it felt open enough Sly could make more Rambo movies if he wanted to. The montage during the end credits is really good.

Saw it at a packed screening with a great crowd. As soon as he pulled that dude's collar bone out in the beginning, you knew it would be on. Those kills were fucking badass!

Yeah now that I think about it, Gabrielle wasn’t blood related to John. I think the woman living with them was her maternal grandmother. John was just a symbolic “Uncle”

Overall, I thought this was lame and a letdown, especially coming off of how stong that last one was. By the time the action rolled around at the end I just didn't care for Rambhome Alone.

Re: Rambo: Last Blood (Grunberg, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread
I've been reading on that other forum that this apparently had a prologue that was deleted for American audiences, which had Rambo assisting law enforcement in some sort of storm where they save some hikers. The thing is that this alternate opening is playing in some foreign territories intact. I think Australia and France have that version.
I was confused because if you look at the IMDB page there are a handful of characters/actors listed that were not in the film I saw.
