Yeah that’s what I thought. I have no problem with another Heart of Darkness story and putting it in space is kind of clever. Just this actual movie was pretty stupid.
No denying that Pitt was pretty good in it in any case.

Yeah, but the execution was so similar to Copolla’s film that it felt like a rip off.

Actually, one of the bigger problems I had with it was that it felt like a masturbatory "look-at-me-I-can-act" vanity piece for Pitt. I'm not sure how fair that is to Gray or Pitt, but at the end of the movie, that's kind of how I felt about it, looking back on it.

My wife and I turned this off about 45 minutes in. We were both bored to tears.

I enjoyed this film and have seen it twice on HBO. The main character knowing he was a bit of a fuck up was funny because well, yeah...he fucked up a lot in this. And the ending was..whatever. lol But I still found myself entertained. I like a lot of "slow burn" stuff with a great score and nice visuals so this fit that. I also liked Pitt's voice over.

This film absolutely fell flat imo. Almost didn't make it through it the first time and no way would I ever waste time re-watching it. Shame because I typically really enjoy Brad Pitt movies.

Just saw this through FXM on demand.

1. I love astronomy. I watched the whole film.

2. This movie is incredibly boring! I can’t believe a screenplay was written, the studio thought it was entertaining enough to pick up, and the final product was satisfactory for everyone involved. Wow, so so so boring.

This movie has no parallel plots. The viewer just follows Brad Pitt throughout the whole film. Ridiculous.

While I wouldn't say boring, most if not all of James Grays movies lack excitement.

Come on. That's not a real criticism.
