Directors you never expected to like?

There are a few that come to find for me, but surprisingly, I like Gaspar Noe’s films. Irreversible blew me away. Have Love and Climax and I think Enter the Void on digital. And really want to see that one. But him and maybe Wes Anderson surprise me as directors I seem to really feel something with their movies. Certainly styles unto their own but so unique...

As a teen, I'm positive none of these names would have been on my radar...And have now become among my most favorite filmmakers:

Fellini
Bergman
Michael Powell
Varda
Antonioni
De Sica

Ingmar Bergman. Realized this after watching a good chunk of the Bergman massive box set. Some great stuff there.

Jean Luc Godard.
Harmony Korine.

Based on reputation as filmmakers and the interviews and public personas I'd been exposed to before seeing any of their films.

Wes Anderson- his style normally isn't my cup of tea but his movies are some of my favorites
