I watched 2 reviews on YouTube. Stuckmann and another Movie Pundit. They basically said the same thing, it's very dumb and ridiculous. But has great action and lots of laughs and it's like a live action cartoon. Keep your expectations in check for this kind of movie. Stuckmann thought it was too long at 135 minutes.
Sounds good to me.

Sounds like the first Pirates movie. Lots of fun but goes on too long.

Or Crank 2, but probably less banana shit crazy like that one was. Loved it! Think I saw in theater actually. Won’t see this until digital though...

"There are three end credits scenes in total. Two are mid-credits scenes while the final one is a post-credits scene.
One of these scenes is played for laughs while the other two are there for sequel set-up."

Just got back from a 7:30pm show.
First of all, this is the definition of "Turn your brain off" at the door movie. If you're one of those who are easily insulted by these kinds of movies, watch something else this weekend. It's a pure testosterone action fantasy. Nothing about this is even remotely realistic.
But, I had a good time with it. Lots of humor. Statham and The Rock were hilarious and had great banter. I did find Idris Elba a little too over the top with his bionic man super villain. And there appears to be a bigger villain at play who knows Hobbs. So they left that storyline lingering for a potential sequel.
The action sequences were amazing, but also extremely over the top. Especially the helicopter sequence in Samoa.
The cameos/appearances from Kevin Hart and Ryan Reynolds were pretty funny. Reynolds' 2 post credit appearances were amusing.
I don't want to ramble too much about this, but I was entertained and I welcome more adventures with Hobbs and Shaw. This definitely fills the void of the original Fast and Furious movies since there wasn't one this year.
I give it a B and 3 1/2 stars.

Two words: Dumb fun. That's my whole review.
Yeah, I was hoping they were going to reveal the "secret" villain's identity at the end. It would've been cool if the villain had shown up at the very end, removed his shades and it turned out to be a big name actor like Ed Norton (or maybe Dave Bautista, who would prolly love to be in one of these flicks). Imagine him looking down from a helicopter and The Rock looking up at him and defiantly raising his fist in the air. And then the camera zooms in on a closeup of The Rock's glaring eyes. Cue the end credits. That would've been a perfect way to end the film in preparation for the sequel.

Just got back from it and it was fucking fun as all hell. I never did finish watching the F&F films (the last one I watched was the one where they drag the safe through the streets of Brazil), so this was a pleasant change of pace. It was a nice genre film, with over the top action. I love Vanessa Kirby, so there's that.
The Dolby Cinema presentation was epic.

One disappointment with the film is that Eisa Gonzalez didn't have a bigger role. She had less screentime here than in Alita.
OTOH, Vanessa Kirby did her best Rebecca Ferguson and kicked some major ass. I could see her in the future playing Catwoman.

I liked this a lot. Of the F&TF franchise, this is one of the better ones. It's utterly ridiculous and silly, but knows it and presumes you do too. And Vanessa Kirby finally has my support for Catwoman. She's terrific in this.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw got off to a rip-roaring start last night, earning a promising $5.8 million in Thursday previews. Yes, that’s below the $10.4 million Thursday preview gross of Fate of the Furious in April of 2017, but it’s a lot more than the $1.2 million Thursday for xXx: Return of Xander Cage in January of 2017. It’s right in line with the $6 million in Thursday previews earned by Mission: Impossible – Fallout which then went on to nab a $62 million opening weekend.

From my review page, ORBI-WAN GOES TO THE MOVIES:
FAST AND FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS AND SHAW (PG-13) - The first spin-off of the wildly successful series leaves logic and physics at the door, as it jams every crazy over-the-top stunt and action bit into a very dumb and predictable, but extremely fun, popcorn-cruncher.
If you come out of the new Hobbs and Shaw movie physically exhausted, yet pumped, well, no one can blame you. It is definitely one of those end-of-the summer blockbuster types intended to raise its target audience’s spirits and sell a ton of tickets. And being that it’s kind of an experiment, branching off of what started as a bad-boy street-racing series that somehow turned into a globe-trotting spy action-adventure franchise with fun characters, I’d say good on them for shaking up the formula a bit by pairing disparate characters and setting them loose on a standard “stolen-virus-let’s-remake-the-world-in-our-image” style plot.
Be warned, there is a lot of box-checking going on during Hobbs and Shaw. Two charismatic main characters (Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham) who hate each other, but still hold a certain amount of grudging respect for one another - check. A seemingly indestructible bad guy, Brixton, (Idris Elba) who thinks he’s doing righteous work and that he’s the next phase in human advancement - check. The inclusion of a beloved family member, Hattie, (Vanessa Kirby), who has made an incredible sacrifice, and who is also strong and talented enough to stand up with the big boys, and take out the bad guys with style and grace - check. A shadowy mega-organization behind the scenes, manipulating events with the intent of world domination - check. Expendable henchmen with no names - check. The CIA dressed in their standard garb (suits and shades) and the butt of many jokes - check. Crazy action sequences that come at such regular intervals, you can set your watch to them - check. The Fast and Furious theme of family saving the day - check.
There are a few unexpected fun things that have been included that raises Hobbs and Shaw a wee bit above the standard summer blockbuster template. Two very amusing and extended unannounced cameos by hot comedic actors (I personally should have seen one of them coming). The level of funny insults that Hobbs and Shaw hurl at each other, even as it’s clear they will always have each other’s back. The complete audaciousness of the many stunts and action sequences, each one attempting to top the last one. The totally awesome motorcycle that Brixton rides - imagine a non-speaking KITT with magical powers.
Overall, despite some of its predictability, I really enjoyed Hobbs and Shaw for all the humor and non-stop action, although the movie itself could have been trimmed by about 10 or 15 minutes. I’m giving this spin-off 3.5 out of 5 lightsabers, and definitely would like to see the producers try to top this one. It’s gonna be hard.
NOTES TO PARENTS: (Some mild spoilers) Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw is rated PG-13 for over-the-top adventure-thriller style action and violence (though not gory), language and a lot of crude comments. A woman’s plastic-pantied behind is briefly shown in a scene toward the beginning of the film. There is no sex in the movie, just a couple of kisses. The two main characters yell “No F***ing way” at the same time when they realize they have to work together. S**t, G*****n, son-of-a-b****, and some milder profanities are heard throughout the movie. There are many very crude remarks made by the two main characters as they insult each other throughout the first two-thirds of the movie. Shaw gives Hobbs a crude-sounding alias as they attempt to travel incognito. Hattie’s MI-6 crew is killed and she is blamed for their deaths. A surprise character who shows up several times describes the effects of a customized virus in gruesome detail in front of Hobbs’ daughter, to comic effect. We see a shot of Brixton’s mechanical backbone as his back is being closed up after an upgrade. There are too many individual action scenes to list all the crazy stuff that goes on, but people are tazed, shot, punched, bludgeoned and beat up pretty much throughout the movie, although none of it is bloody or gory in any way.
MID- AND AFTER-CREDIT SCENES: There are multiple mid-credit scenes, one or two that hint at new alliances, and the rest are just for laughs. The after-credit scene is also thrown in for laughs.

That was great.
Ryan Reynolds handing the briefing folder to Hobbss daughter slayed me. I realize hes just doing Deadpool again but its so great.
Thought this was really fun. Great action, funny, cool cars and vehicles (Brixtons motorcycle was really neat), just enjoyed it all around.

Dumb fun. This is easily the most over the top of the movies but I won't lie that I thought it was really well done. Honestly not much to say other than its highly enjoyable. I will say that it felt like it went on too long. By the time the factory scene was over I felt like the movie should end and I had no more energy for the scenes in Samoa. Not much to say but I enjoyed it and would say its a 4/5 star movie for me.

It was pretty fun. Saw it in IMAX. It was stupid as all get out but I still mostly liked it.
That last battle though. Starts in the dark pre-dawn hours then immediately cuts to broad daylight. I turned to my son and said "Wasn't it just dark?" He said "Maybe there's been a time cut and they've been fighting for a while?". Then, as on cue, Kirby looks at her arm device and it shows that under 9 minutes have elapsed. Then after they force Idris Elba to the ground and the sky is dark and it's a full-blown thunderstorm? Then they cut back and the guys back at the garage are still in sunny daylight? I'm no continuity Nazi, but that was pretty fucked up.
