The Hunt
In Theaters September 27
Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.
In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
From Jason Blum, the producer of Get Out and The Purge series, and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the TV series The Leftovers and Lost, comes a new mysterious social thriller.
The Hunt is written by Lindelof and his fellow The Leftovers’ collaborator Nick Cuse and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, The Leftovers). Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions alongside Lindelof. The film is executive produced by Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen.

I thought this was going to be a remake of the exceptional Thomas Vinterberg film. I'm glad its not. Also I'm confident it will be the inferior "The Hunt" movie.

Because there won’t be another shooting by the time it is released...

Didn't the President of the United States of America criticize the existence of this flick, along with a bunch of other "censorship is wrong!" Twitter/YouTuber nut jobs?
Hmm.

Or Hard Target.
the funny thing is, like Hard Target, the blue-collar “deplorable” victims are the good guys in this film, and the “wealthy elites” are the bad guys.
Good thing right wing snowflakes complained

Articles I read said the studio was concerned about negative backlash following the recent mass shootings (backlash that would've come from both sides of the political aisle) and that, combined with the studio knowing the film is a stinker, was motivation enough to pull it. No doubt this will eventually see the light of day eventually, probably on VOD, and will probably benefit from the free publicity it got. More people will want to see it later who would've passed by it had it been released on schedule. "All publicity..." yada yada yada.

Or The Condemned. But that one was OK because it had Stone Cold in it.

Zobel's last flick, Z For Zachariah, was okay. Direction was fine, but the movie itself was uneventful.

Doesn’t matter who complained this movie wasn’t gonna make any money anyway. But keep giggling at yourself for the use of the term snowflake.

QUESTION:
How long will it be before this thread is locked?
I'm giving 6-5 odds it will be open no longer than 36 hours.

OK Bert.
Let's just forget or downplay that Fox News railed against it to their massive audience, because they didn't understand the premise, resulting in the goddamn President of the United States of America commenting on it, which is just some of the pressure Universal got, knowing that dumb people who have no sense of satire would come after them endlessly for releasing it.
GreenShirtGuy.gif is perfectly appropriate here.
