Who is Mahershala Ali?
I'm not familiar with him at all.
(edit - Looking over his IMDB credits he's only been in a couple things I've seen, and he didn't stand out at all.)

Green Book?? I've never heard of that one. Just looked it up, does not ring a bell at all.
True Detective? I don't watch a lot of TV (not enough time), so I've heard of it, but haven't seen a single second of the show.
I'm not doubting his acting skills, just saying that I know nothing about him whatsoever, and the things I've seen with him in them left me with no lasting impression of him.

Unless you simply don't care and paid zero attention to it, but Green Book won 2019 Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Ali also won Best Supporting Actor for that movie.

I really liked the first two Blade movies and am pretty excited about this news. It is kind of a bummer they don’t have full access to Spider-Man, because a team up against Morbius would be cool.
Another great casting decision too.

And Green Book did $85 Million at the box office. Not bad for that kind of thing, but not exactly a runaway hit.
I remember zero about that movie ever coming out. Maybe I heard the name when they announced the winners of the Academy Awards on the news, but it meant nothing to me.
Is that a problem??

Come on, does anyone really take the Academy Awards seriously anymore? It's just another fluffy awards show. Maybe a little more pompous and pretentious than the rest...

They already made 3 movies. Move on to a different character.

Always down for some more Blade.
If you like the character and haven't seen it already, try out the 12 episode anime series Madhouse made several years ago.

I've been meaning to catch that. I also remember them making some series on Spike TV years ago with some rapper as blade. I don't think it did well. It may have just been pilot.

Sticky Fingaz played Blade on that show, and it had a full 12 episode season. I seem to recall that it was actually a pretty good ratings performer for Spike at the time, but was supposedly too expensive for them to continue with it.

re: Marvel's Blade (2023) - S: Mahershala Ali
AFTER MAHERSHALA ALI WON his second Oscar in February, he called up Marvel Studios for a meeting.
"When Mahershala calls, you answer," Kevin Feige told Patrick Shanley Saturday.
At the meeting, Ali came right out and said that he wanted to do Blade. That was that.
On Saturday, Ali got a hero's welcome as he donned a Blade baseball cap in front of thousands of screaming fans.
Curiously, Ali already appeared on Marvel and Netflix's Luke Cage as the villain Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes. Technically, the Netflix shows took place in the same universe as Marvel's films, though they never truly felt like they connected.

Once again the un-imaginative drag out more reboots over and over Hollywood rears it's ugly head...this time a Blade reboot....I guess next year we'll hear about a Thor Reboot...a Captain America Reboot...and surely a Iron Man Reboot...this is getting pathetic....as far as I'm concern, Snipes is and was Blade...he had Blade down on all films. I don't care who and what awards or picture awards....I'll stick with Snipes and what he and others did on the other Blade Movies....
