Nice that they’re bringing Portman back. She wasn’t missed in Ragnarok but she was pretty good as Jane and should be cool seeing her as Lady Thor.

do Thor and Lady Thor exist at the same time? I don't read comics. I don't mind this, but would hate this be the "passing of the hammer" from Hemsworth to Portman.

I enjoyed the Jane Foster Thor run in the comics quite a bit. I question how Natalie can pull off the physicality of that storyline but I am extremely happy watching/reading all the incels losing their mind over this. So much comedy reading their inane postings. Might be more fun than the movie will be.

I'm really surprised Natalie Portman agreed to come back, or that Marvel even wanted her back. I thought she was totally over these movies and she and Hemsworth didn't have any chemistry together.

There might be an element of wanting to work with Waititi at play. The last movie was a lot of fun. Maybe she wanted to be in a fun Thor movie. The money doesn't hurt either.

Among the other castings was Natalie Portman's surprise return to the Thor franchise as Jane Foster for the first time since 2013.
Her deal to return as female Thor was done in secret six months ago, but dates back much earlier. Taika Waititi was inspired to turn Jane into Thor when he was directing Thor: Ragnarok and was reading the fan favorite comic run by Jason Aaron.
"One of the ideas, and perhaps the biggest, was the idea of Jane," Feige says of Waititi's pitch for Thor: Love and Thunder. "We set Natalie and Taika up and in one meeting she agreed to do it."

I've been in the minority as one who enjoys the Thor films. Well, not so much Ragnarok, kinda liked, but the others were good. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Portman as Thor. 
I'm not even worried about her physical look in terms of having a "Thor type body" for the role.

I stop reading comics around late 90's. Kinda glad I did too... I'm a big fan of the art as well as story and there isn't one artist that has stand out to me. Last I liked were Byrne, Lee, McFarlane to name a short few.
