Doris Day, 1922-2019

I didn’t see a thread so I thought I’d start one even if it is a little late.

I admit I haven’t seen most of the comedies she’s famous for, but I do enjoy her performance in the remake of The Man Who Knew Too Much,

When I was younger, for some reason, I would always watch Calamity Jane when it would show up on tv.

I recall seeing several of her comedies on TV when I was a young child. But definitely remember her TV series when it ran in syndication. She was truly talented.

Of the three comedies she made with Rock Hudson and Tony Randall, LOVER COME BACK and PILLOW TALK are the best. LOVER COME BACK is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

She made a good pairing with Frank Sinatra in YOUNG AT HEART (1954). I wish they'd made more movies together.

Take a look at this.

She was a massive star. It’s not properly appreciated now. At her peak she was the number one grossing star. Not number one grossing female, number one over all. Bigger than Tracy and Bogart and Wayne.
