I didn't even reply to your post. Kick rocks, dude! It was the BMF I asked why to.
For the sake of just guessing bullshit, Mariol Nichols isn't in the trailer, so she's the killer! Oh, and while we're at it, one of the black characters is related to Danny Glover's, because... why not?

“Spiral: From the Book of Saw,” the ninth installment in the Saw horror franchise, will premiere in theaters a week earlier than originally planned. The film, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, is now set to debut on May 14.

I thought the speculation here was going to come back to my "Laurie Metcalf Theorem." The killer is generally the actor who is obviously only cast in that role because they are the killer. Generally it holds true for those lesser-known "I recognize that person, but can't place them" actors. E.g., "I recognize that person, but why are they playing such a small part?" (BECAUSE THEY ARE THE KILLER!)
As for the trailer ... I'm sorry. Chris Rock trying to look tough and act serious is laughable. I saw the trailer a few weeks ago without knowing (or remembering) what it was; I thought it was a parody or spoof at first.
I had planned on watching Fargo at some point ... but ... ehhh ...

Actually looks fairly good. The only thing is I’m not really a fan of the franchise. Torture type horror has never really been something I like to watch.

So I'm hopeful this one will be more like the first one, but Bousman being the director gives me some grief.

Bought a ticket to see this at AMC next Friday. I had $5 Fandango reward to use after all my theater visits.
Looks like this movie is 93 minutes.

This looks like something where sites that specialize in horror need to have more weight given to their reviews than regular critics. Chris Stuckman gave it a C+ saying it had the makings of a great Saw movie, but fell short.

Awhile back I picked up the whole series on Blu Ray for 3 bucks a piece. I had only seen the first one around the time it came out (which I liked), and one of the sequels. Not only was the first one not the good movie I remember it being, but all of the sequels are genuinely awful. The glutton for punishment I am, I will probably watch this once it hits streaming.

So much for hoping this would be a good Saw movie with Rock's involvement

As a big fan of the franchise, I didn’t care much for this. Probably less so than the last one.
The concept is alright, but the execution isn’t good. Bringing Bousman back to direct was a mistake. Chris Rock is just too distracting in the movie. He came up with the pitch… cool. But just collect that producer check. Hell, take a crack at directing it. But he just seemed way too out of place here.

We just got back from it. Chris Rock's stare is both uncomfortable and hilarious looking at the same time.

Just got back from seeing it. Not my favorite of the series, but I did find some of it entertaining. I'd probably give this a 7 out of 10 and maybe a C+
And by no means did this wrap up the series. Depending on how much this makes, I have to think we will see a Saw X.
I thought it was cool seeing Marisol Nichols play a tough chick with a mouth of a sailor.
I did think it was interesting how the big reveal of the killer:
This is probably how I would rank the series. I've seen every movie prior to this at least 3 times.
Saw II
Saw III
Saw
Saw IV
Jigsaw
Spiral
Saw V
Saw VI
Saw 3D
I didn't really like the new recordings setting up the traps. The voice wasn't as creepy as Kramer's. Rock added a different dynamic to this. Rather than this being your typical torture porn horror, there was some light humor and a lot of this felt very police cop thriller.

Just got back from it and it was ok. Called it, too!
Better than 3D and some of the latter entries. A friend who saw it kept going on and on about how cheap some of the sets looked and he's right. This was shot, most of the time, in extreme closeups that you couldn't even see buildings or vantage points, etc. I kept telling him, dude, they spent shit to make it to maximize their profits. Lo and behold I looked it up and Spiral cost 40 MILLION to make. First thing I thought was that scene from True Romance with Sal Rubinek: "I swear to God, somebody is stealing from me!" No fucking way this cost 40 million to make. I'll say it was at least 30 million in salaries, Rock and Jackson together, but outside of that, there's no other big names let alone set pieces. There's that pesky Hollywood accounting again.
In any event, they do set it up for a continuation and I will see it.

Yes, they did leave it open for another one. However, wasn't the intended mission accomplished and anything further would be simply murdering others for the sake of playing more games? Also, the voice they chose sucked.
