You sure they didn't switch that trailer with the one for MATRIX IV?

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (Stahelski, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I'll be seeing this tonight.

I rewatched Chapter 2 and enjoyed it more, but still didn't love it like the first. I am looking forward to this one based on the comments that it feels less bloated.

Did anyone go to the premiere last night? I had tickets, but had too much to do.

Wow, first one to vote or review.

The movie lives up to the first two and then some. I’m a huge fan of the first two. This one was just balls to the walls crazy wicked with the fight scenes, shoots outs, and sword and knife play.

If you liked the first two films, I see no reason why you wouldn’t like this one. Everyone is great. Reeves is just awesome in this role. It’s a really good time a time at the movies. I have no problem giving this this a 5 out of 5.

This has the best fight choreography and stunts of the 3, but the first is still the best movie.

Some stuff was jaw dropping. It became a sensory overload.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (Stahelski, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Loved it. 2+ hours of pure mayhem. I actually liked it better than John Wick 2.

The fight scenes/hand to hand combat sequences are amazing. It really feels like you're watching guys beat the shit out of each other.

The gun play sequences were really well choreographed. Halle Berry was solid in her part and it was surprisingly very minor. The trailers gave the impression she had a bigger role.

and I loved the dry humor.

I did at John falling at the end and surviving. Of course they left things open for a John Wick 4.

I had to step out of the theatre for a second. How did he actually get from NYC to Casablanca?

Basically, he just magically appeared on the subway after he made his deal with the Elder, lost his ring finger and was presented with the black suit. It was a similar transition to how Bruce Wayne made his way back to Gotham from The Pit in TDKR.

Right. That was towards the end. So, in the beginning it was the same? Before he met up with Hallie?

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (Stahelski, 2019) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just a couple minor disappointing things. Nothing major... but in case folks who haven't seen it are reading the spoiler thread...
Spoiler:
- I'm sad that he didn't get his car back... yet.
- no Jimmy
- I have to assume it was intentional, but I really didn't like The Adjudicator's (Asia Kate Dillon) acting.
- the last big sequence in the room full of glass felt a little too much like the mirror-sequence near the end of JW2. The fights were better in this one, though.
- The motorbike sequence (especially the one long cut) was fantastic, but (maybe I'm wrong) way too obviously CGI. Apparently this scene was an homage to a big scene in The Villainess, which I'll be watching very soon.
- Not enough Halle Berry.
- I kind of had my hopes up that because Wick left Cassian alive in JW2 (on the train, with the blade in his aorta), maybe he'd show up here. No dice.

Overall, I'm so damn happy with this one after what I felt was a relatively disappointing JW2. I watched all three films in a marathon setting (Alamo Drafthouse does not disappoint), so revisiting JW made me love it more, and revisiting JW2 made me appreciate some things more (and hate some other things even more than I did before), but JW3 is overall a stellar sequel.

The very first fight scene - in the library - is worth the price of admission alone. And it only ramps up from there. See it with an audience, boys.

Correct. He just showed up, after Anjelica Huston granted him passage and we saw his original training grounds.

Well..
Spoiler:
he did say his car would be ready Christmas 2030. Yeah.. I was hoping for a Cassian appearance. Maybe ... for JW4. The Halle Berry/Belgian Malinois stuff was gold. Damn I wanted more of that. They basically turned her into a certified badass.

Yea, basically it has been a week or so across the 3 movies. Wasn't getting fixed in that amount of time.

I know. As soon as I realized this takes place minutes after JW2 ends, I knew it wasn't going to happen. I actually didn't watch the trailers for this in advance, so it was nice to go in blind and not knowing who was actually in the flick and who wasn't.

Yeah... they mentioned a few weeks. I think that's also reinforced by his longer hair length when he's finally in Casablanca.
