Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

Since life is too short, I don't tend to watch movies over and over and over. Three or four re-views is pretty much my limit. I don't think I have seen any single movie as many as 10 times, even my favourites.

Still, there are a few movies that are momentously dear to my heart, and tops in that regard is On Golden Pond, which never fails to leave me - someone who doesn't cry easily - choked up at several points. To me, it's one of the most meaningful films ever made. I was a little kid when my parents took me and my sister to see it in theatres in 1981. It struck a chord for all of us, not because my father (or mother) was at all truculent and difficult to relate to like Fonda's character (and the actor in actuality), but because we related to the nostalgia and memory-creating magic of the setting. My sister and I were lucky enough to grow up at a cottage like that, and its continuing importance in all of our lives is incalculable. Not least because it reminds me of my cherished dad, who died almost a decade ago.
Man, I have probably seen O.G.P. close to ten times, and I plan to watch it again soon. Doubtless, the tears of ineffable heartbreak, sadness, and reminiscence will roll down once again.

Watch are your excessive "never grows old" rewatches?

Superman: The Movie and Fight Club. You know a movie is great when you know every single beat in it and still entertains you.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

Jaws is the one movie I’ve seen countless times and have still not gotten tired of.

Over the last 15 years or so, I’ve really started to slow down on repeat viewings and spend the majority of my movie watching time seeing new movies I’ve never seen before.

However, as a child and teenager I used to watch the same movies over and over. Probably my most watched during that time period are:
The Goonies
Die Hard
Back to the Future
Terminator 2
Ghostbusters
Airplane!
Stripes
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Jurassic Park

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

It's got to be Star Wars, as it was the first movie I owned on home video (way back in the RCA Videodisc days) and watched it over, and over, and over.

If we're talking actually seeing things IN the theater: The Fugitive. I saw that one 11 times during its run.

Raiders of the Lost Ark. Been watching it on a regular basis since I was 11. I’m now 46. Still never gets old for me.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

As a kid, i've watched Superman; The Move over and over, maybe at least 20 times. It was one if the first that i had seen in the theater and very nostalgic to me. I havent watched it in many tears now though. Ace Ventura would be another one i've watched probably as many times because it was very funny and there's always some little thing you could miss even after watching it many times.

I never cared for this movie or watched it a lot of times, but I'd expect The Wizard Of Oz to be one of the most often mentioned movie in this thread along with Star Wars.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

The movies I've seen the most are almost entirely due to them being the few that were available through a large chunk of my viewing life.

As a child, without cable movie channels, it was probably Back to the Future. Once I got out of college and picked up a dvd player, and having a lot of spare time, it was probably Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or American Psycho. Those were two of the first movies I bought on dvd. Easily a few hundred times for each of those above. I didn't really start bumping up the amount of movies I owned until around 2003, so I would watch the same handful of movies over and over and over again. For the past decade or so, there's very few movies I've seen more than 5 times.

Star Wars and Empire certainly are at the top.

A lot of comedies have great rewatch factors. Caddyshack, Blues Brothers, Airplane, Anchorman.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

While not in my favorite ten or maybe even fifty movies of all time, I’d guess that the Universal horror films are my most watched. From midnight and Saturday showings as a kid, to modern day watches on Blu-ray, they seem an almost yearly occurrence.

But I could be way off, as I don’t track or remember how many times I see anything. My favorite film is Jaws. Maybe I’ve seen it 12 times, maybe 200, could be anywhere in between.

WOW...that's amazing!

Some of the films I've rewatched quite a bit (sorry, I haven't counted):
SW OT
Dune
Aliens
Predator

Generally speaking, I don't have the time to re-watch a lot of movies...in spite of having a helluva disk collection ()

I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I've seen "Sixteen Candles". Which I still think is the funniest/best High School movie of all-time.

I can see where concert movies are probably viewed more than a movie. I bet I've seen "Stop Making Sense" well over 50 times.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

Escape from New York, when it came to our town in 1981 it only played a week. I saw it everyday it was there. Owned every version released except Laser Disc, including Betamax (paid $100 for the tape when it came out). I watch it every year at lest once sometimes two or 3 times. I for sure have seen it over 100 times and know almost every word of dialogue.

Other than Spring Break which I have seen probably 50+ times...the others would be 20 or less.

Re: Movie(s) you have seen the highest number of times

I have seen Blade Runner, Star Wars Original trilogy, first six Star Trek original crew films, the Evil Dead trilogy and Joss Whedon's Serenity more times than a person probably should. I actually watched Serenity again this morning.

Don't keep track of how many times I've seen movies with home viewing, but I can say I've seen Pulp Fiction theatrically eight times. All viewings 35mm.
