Based on that teaser it looks like Joel Coen sold out to the mainstream teen crowd

Great looking teaser. What a horrible poster.
I was intrigued by the use of the Weird Sister's line "By the pricking of my thumbs..." First time watching it, I thought it was a man speaking it. Second time it sounded like it could be a woman with a very rough voice. Uncertain.

Anyone else remember "Men of Respect" with John Turturro? I really enjoyed that on VHS after barely grasping MacBeth in High School.

That looked really interesting. Good interesting. I’ve seen every Coen bros movie. No reason not to see this since I have Apple+. Can’t wait with those reviews.

I saw this yesterday. From an aesthetical standpoint... I liked it a lot. The cinematography is gorgeous and I really loved the minimalistic approach to the set design. The performances across the board were very good. But otherwise... it just felt like a slog. At least 4 people walked out of the screening pretty early. I may try and give it another shot when it hits Apple+ in two weeks... but I don't know... It seemed like a very truncated version of the story.
Both critics and audience score on RT is still holding strong.

This is on Apple TV+ now
Yeah I've never cared for Macbeth but I absolutely love the atmosphere on this one. It made the world seem cooler than the plot that was occurring. It was kind of like a Hitchcock take on the material.
I'd just about take a dialog free track on it.

Can someone spare me a look up and tell me if the dialogue is from the original source material or has it been modernized?
If the former, I'll pass. Can't stand listening to Shakespearean dialogue

It's a mix but more the former than the latter. It uses a lot of the source but they strip it of that over the top poetic reading associated with Shakespeare and just spout it off like it's normal dialogue.
That trailer has the most dialog of them.

Re: The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021, D: Joel Coen) S: Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand
I’m a huge fan of Orson Welles’ Shakespeare films and this one has an awful lot of them in their DNA, including just dazzling, claustrophobic scenery and black and white cinematography. it’s just gorgeous to simply look at with its hyper-unreality.
Washington is terrific, capturing Macbeth’s madness so well. Macbeth is actually a Shakespeare tragedy I find harder to love like I do Hamlet or Othello, but something that really works here is having both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth clearly be older, at the end of their peak, desperately trying to fulfil their dreams before it’s
too late.

Turned this off after 20 minutes. Just not for me, and I like everyone involved.
