Oh, makes sense. I think Ana was a good choice. She might not be a perfect match to Marilyn, physically, she's still damn close.

My mom was a casual friend of Norma Jean. She actually considered Marilyn Monroe a different person, so that scene at least from what my mon told me about her is very accurate.

One time my mom was with her in Manhattan and Norma Jean was wrapped up in sunglasses and scarfs and stuff and no one was recognizing her. At some point she said to my mom "do you want me to be "her" and see what its like?" My mom was like. "who?" and she said "Marilyn". Couple seconds later my mon said she just changed -held her body and face different walked different and almost immediately everyone recognized her through the disguise and they were mobbed.

Couple interesting things:

There was a photo of her with my mom and a few other people at a restaurant and Marilyn just jumped out of the photo. It was like there was a separate spotlight just for her.

She took my mom on a makeover once, bought my mom a dress had her hair done and did her makeup for her herself. There was also a pic of that. My mon was 40 years older than me. One day I found the photo and took it to the kitchen and asked my mom who the "pretty lady" was. Regret that to this day.

Also my mom said Marilyn was actually prettier in person than her pictures.

I had a major crush on Marilyn for a long while. which is weird since she died before I was born. Looking forward to this.

When you look at her old photos before "Marilyn" she was definitely had something about her. Maybe her smile.

Im biased but I think she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She was beautiful, sexy, cute, and vulnerable all at the same time. She was gorgeous as a teenager as well with her natural hair.

Interesting teaser. My hope for this is that it gives the viewer a "darker" portrayal of the shit Norma Jean went through. Including the many men she slept with, the depression and the drug addiction. Hence, hopefully the NC-17 rating takes us into that realm.

I wonder if somebody or some people complained Marilyn is not being played by a Caucasian.

She might give a great performance, but she's too thin.

Coincidentally, Norm’s masturbation thread probably would have seen a surge of activity once this movie was released.

Why do you say that she's not Caucasian?

Not sure why people are complaining about the rating. It was zero effect on being able to watch it.

Grace Randolph apparently has a huge problem with this movie and refuses to watch and cover it. Sounds like she considers it exploitation.

Of whom? Marilyn? It’s billed as a fictional story based on a published novel by a revered American author. I don’t get that at all. But as I have stated on the record before : Grace genuinely sucks, so I don’t mind at all not having to ever listen to her screech a high-pitched pan of the movie.

I don’t know anything about Grace Randolph but any “Critic” who makes an issue about a movie BEFORE he/she watches it, can kick rocks.

Many people are not going to think this is fictional...

Probably. But it does say in the trailer "Based on the Novel...". Hopefully there will be a disclaimer at the opening of the movie instead of just scrolling by in the end credits.

From what I gathered on Twitter the director confirmed there's a fictional sexual assault that was also in the book. He had to consult with Netflix to see how far it could go.

You don't need to see the movie knowing it probably got the NC-17 due to this rape scene.

The first page of the script says:
“What follows is fiction.
Biographical facts should be sought elsewhere.”
