Predictable paint by #'s Marvel origin flick. Any other actress besides Brie might have made this a better movie. Hoping they won 't let her ruin Endgame.

Im not sure what some of yall were expecting, but I thoroughly enjoyed this.
And was totally enamored by Brie Larson in her performance. She played the fish out of water, amnesiac aspect of the role quite well. And still brought across the snarky charm throughout the movie.
And I thought there were some great hero moments, both in action and with the musical cues. And Sam Jackson was perfect in this.
it was a great ride, and similar to Antman/Wasp in that it was a simpler, less weighty adventure to go on, all the while knowing were going right back into the sh*t with Endgame.
Im definitely seeing this again before April 26.

As long as you’re wondering what song could have replaced Just a Girl, what about White Town’s Your Woman?

Caught this today. I liked its stab at feeling like a 90s action films. And I liked that Agents of Shield basically got its cinematic crossover. The Kree story on TV is hard to enjoy when its restricted by budget and stretching it out over 20 hours. Or it rubbed off on an MCU film. I really enjoyed seeing Coulson.
It did feel feel a little packaged with the music bits ... which was new in Thor Ragnarok. But here is another take.
In short - another fine and reliable MCU film. Theyre still going and top notch mainstream action adventure movies.

I got around to seeing it today and thought it was well made. The first 20 minutes are confusing as hell, but then again I knew nothing about this character going in. Once she arrives on Earth, the rest of the movie is a blast.

Saw it today and I thought it was fantastic...nicely paced and I would like to see more interaction between Fury and the Flerken in future MCU films. It was worth sitting through the credits for the end gag with the flerken.

I went and saw it for a second time the other day, this time in 3D.
3D was good. Not much on pop-out but a lot of depth. Outer space stuff looked really good. Best looking 3D was anytime there was a vapor/smoke trail. Like when the jump ships went to Earth. Also the canyon dog fight looked good too.
I agree the story did flow a lot better the 2nd time around. And this time the sound was 1000 times better. So I was able to easily hear all the dialog.

Saw it yesterday, even though I was a little tired. No problem staying alert. Really enjoyed it and thought Brie was fine. Went all out and saw it in Dolby Cinema. Presentation was top-notch, of course.

2nd viewing today and enjoyed it even more. Wife wanted to see it again, and loves the scene of the various Carol's standing up.

I think they bring so much new stuff with each installment. They all build, they all have own style, but directors still tie stuff together which is amazing. Take Ragnarok, Waititi brought the most fun, most entertaining MCU of the lot, but stuff like GotG, Civil War, Homecoming, Doctor Strange, there all so good and different and leave me wanting more. They nail everything and bring something, maybe not new, but distinct in its own right.
And I simply can’t belive the lukewarm reviews here on CM. It just had so much of everything and I think, most heart. Not the most fun of the bunch. But I think it’s my 5th or 6th fav. It gave reason and meaning to every MCU movie to come before.

Re: Captain Marvel (Boden/Fleck, 2019) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread
So here is my half-drunk synopsis ...
Carol Danvers leaves her band, Creed (made up of Obi-Wannabe Kenobi, The “Who” guy from Guardians of the Galaxy, Papa Smurf, and Hot Blue Sniper Girl), to return to Earth and chase Squirrels while wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt. The Squirrels are a race of green goblins who can change their appearance to look like people. This is cool because Carol beats the crap out of an old lady on the subway. Everybody tries to help the old lady, but nobody seems to notice she is bouncing off the walls and doing gymnastic Kung-fu.
Young Phil Coulson and Young Nick Furry (because he loves cats, see more later) show up and toss around 90s references in the background. Then it turns out that fake Young Phil Coulson is actually a Squirrel that Nick Furry kills in a deliberate car crash. Their boss, the boss from Silence of the Lambs, is also a Squirrel.
Like BattleStar Galactica’s “frak”, Disney creates the word “flerk” so that Samuel L. “Mother Flerker” Jackson can use his catch phrase. Not only that, but people really hate flerkin cats in this flerkin movie. Except Nick Furry, he loves cats but won’t eat diagonally cut toast.
Then we find out Squirrels are good and the band Creed was actually bad. They go to Carol’s girlfirend’s house and turn an airplane into a space ship so they can go rescue the Squirrel families that Annette Benning hid in outer space. A fight ensues with Carol and Creed. Obi-Wannabe Kenobi follows her back to Earth and Blue Man Group shows up to try to nuke the planet. Carol kicks everbody’s asses and sends them back to hollar at Annette Benning who is also a computer brain posing as Annette Benning.
I think that’s about it. Oh, the cat has a flerkin octopus in its mouth and it eats the Tesseract. Then it scratches out Nick Furry’s flerkin eye and coughs the Tesseract back up.
In the post credits scene, Carol meets up with Blonde Widow, the other Captain (not Morgan), Iron Legs, and Bruce Banner.
