Favorite Movie/Show To Fall Asleep To

Sitting in bed right now scrolling through my video streaming services and I realize I can't decide what movie/show to put on to sleep to.

So I'm new to this forum, (Hello) but I thought it would be a good place to ask for future suggestions.

Thanks.

Re: Favorite Movie/Show To Fall Asleep To

Sometimes I like to drift off during the first space sequence in 2001. The music and the ships gracefully floating through space is so relaxing.

A few weeks ago, I discovered the worst movie to fall asleep to is Goodfellas. I thought I'd watch the first ten minutes, but found myself going, "Oh, wait, this next part is my favourite, I'll stay up a little longer to watch that". Then as soon as that scene was over, I was going, "Oh, wait, this next part is also my favourite, I'll stay up a little longer to watch that." Next thing you know it's ninety-minutes later, and I'm realizing Goodfellas is just one big two-hour "favourite part".

I never watched the show but this would make me sleepy listening to the music and watching the NY scenery

None. I just put my head on the pillow, turn off the lights and go to sleep.

I only nod off if I'm REALLY tired (doesn't matter what's on) but my wife likes to put Ancient Aliens on and falls asleep practically every time while watching that show.

Same here. That or any space show on Science (extra points for being narrated by Mike Rowe).

I dozed off while watching Blade Runner a couple months ago and it was the best nap Id had in years.

I can pretty much only do white noise these days, but there was a weird period in the early to mid 2000’s where 80’s fantasy could put me out. My favorite was Willow, but I’d also use stuff like Dragonslayer and Legend.

Thanks everyone.
I will certainly try some of these.

Recently I've been using Slow TV on PlutoTV but it wont load anymore on my fire stick. 😥

The Artist. There are no voices to distract you, just a pleasant score. And the black and white format should be less visually stimulating than color.

Spoiler:
Although the sound scene might wake you back up if the volume is high enough.

Re: Favorite Movie/Show To Fall Asleep To

I pretty much always have to put something on in the background in order to fall asleep. Generally, it's gotta be something that I've seen so many times that I can just close my eyes and listen to it and can basically visualize what's happening on the screen simply because I've seen it so many times. So here's my list of go to movies/shows:
  • Home Improvement (pretty much just the first three seasons)
  • Seinfeld
  • The Simpsons (mainly Seasons 1-8)
  • Veep
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm
  • Transformers: The Movie (cartoon)
  • G.I. Joe: The Movie (cartoon)
  • The Goonies
  • The Late Shift (HBO TV Movie)
  • Game Change (HBO TV Movie)
  • Too Big To Fail (HBO TV Movie)
  • Captain Ron
  • Shoot to Kill
  • Romancing the Stone
  • Fletch
  • Kindergarten Cop
  • Dennis the Menace (movie)
  • Slap Shot
  • 21 Jump Street (movie)
  • Masters of the Universe (movie)
  • Die Hard/Die Hard 2
  • Dante's Peak
  • Dawn of the Dead (original)
  • Day of the Dead (original)
  • Black Christmas (original)
  • Halloween (original)
  • Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
  • Tommy Boy
  • Happy Gilmore
  • Arachnophobia
  • Law & Order (first five seasons or so)
  • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (first five seasons or so)
I've watched all of those so many times, and I know I've listed quite a few movies, but I seriously probably watch each of those movies at least 5 times a year (albeit, oftentimes I just have them on in the background while I clean the house or fold laundry or do dishes)...

Something I've seen before, so I don't get too invested in it, that is mostly dialog with very little loud scenes.

Spotlight
All the President's Men
Good Night and Good Luck
Ken Burns docs
Law and Order (original series only)

I tried watching it twice and fell asleep both times. Thin Red Line
