The last one should have just used a subtitle if they didn't want to number it. That or maybe called it Part Two spelled out rather than number it. It’s going to seem goofy if they number the next one as two. They’ll probably end up doing a subtitle for the next one if I had to guess.

The thing that bothered me about Halloween 2018 is that everything leading up to its release had me sold hook line and sinker. I truly believed they had a fresh take on the franchise. David Gordon Green, while he has made some garbage, has made 5 films I've absolutely loved, as well as a couple others I've liked just fine. When he and Danny McBride were announced for the project as writers(with DGG directing), and then when it was announced that not only is Carpenter coming back as EP AND Composer, but also they are bringing back Jamie Lee, I was like FUCK , they have SOMETHING up their sleeves. Then when I actually saw the film, I kept waiting for that trump card, for some kind of fresh idea, for something that gave me even 10% of the HOLY FUCK feeling I had by the ending of original film when I was 12. But it never came. It was a HUGE letdown for how excited I let myself get. I didn't hate it, I enjoyed it to an extent. Especially in comparison to the later entries and the remakes. But at the end of the day it was just more of the same. DGG, DM, JC and JLC all bluffed me, and I folded. Then they turned their cards over and were like, yeah, we had nothing.

‘Happy Death Day 2U’ Producer Jason Blum Wants to Make 10 More ‘Halloween’ Movies
https://www.moviefone.com/2019/02/13...lum-interview/
You were initially going to shoot two “Halloween” movies at the same time, right?
Well, we had talked about it but right now we’re not shooting any “Halloween” movies right now because we don’t have deal rights to the sequels. But I certainly hope to make 10 more but I’ll start with one more.

I assume each sequel will ignore the previous movie and we will end up with 10 alternate realities resulting in a crossover with Happy Death Day to begin the horror cinematic universe.
All that to say... while I'll go see any Halloween sequel they make, I'm a little disappointed they decided to ignore all the mythology that came before it. I did enjoy the movie, but felt that they could've just had Laurie survive her fall in Resurrection, bring back Josh Hartnett and have his kid be the granddaughter. It just seemed reboot for the sake of reboot.

Happy Halloween could e cool:
Michael starts each day at the asylum, breaks out, killing spree, gets murdered, wakes up back at the asylum.

Good lord if Blum is being serious sounds like he’s going to milk this franchise to death. Ten sequels is more than the original run not counting the two Zombie films. Seems pretty excessive.

I think it's pretty apparent he was being facetious. He could've said 5 or 20.

Either way by that statement I don’t doubt that he’ll milk it until it doesn’t make money anymore. It isn’t going to be a neat little tie-up to the first film and is just another way to crank out more of them until the novelty wears off and people tire of it. The first one just happened to get the involvement of Carpenter and Curtis.

I wish they would’ve have just kept the 1,2, H20 timeline. And not just called it Halloween. I’m sure I’ll go see a sequel, but I won’t have high hopes.

Report from Collider:
Halloween 2 Preps for Fall Shoot, 2020 Release; Laurie Strode to Return | Collider
Halloween 2 Preps for Fall Shoot, 2020 Release; Laurie Strode to Return | Collider
When a film takes in $255 million worldwide on a $10 million production budget, chances are, it’s getting a sequel. And sure enough, multiple sources tell Collider that Blumhouse’s Halloween 2 is gearing up to start shooting after Labor Day, and that Universal will likely release the horror movie on October 16, 2020, which the studio had already reserved for an untitled Blumhouse film.
Jamie Lee Curtis is all but assured to return as Laurie Strode, the tough-as-nails franchise survivor who may just be Michael Myers’ worst nightmare, while Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are expected to reprise their respective roles as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, though talent deals have yet to close. Not too many other people survived the events of 2018’s Halloween, so expect Blumhouse to introduce a new cast of supporting characters, i.e. a new batch of victims for The Shape.
A representative for Blumhouse had no comment.

I’m down for DGG’s involvement, especially if he directs. If he’s out then so am I as I’d imagine we’ll be right back in original Halloween sequels territory with an average For-hire Director.

This is going to be an average sequel no matter what they try to do. I'm not sure how much more you can tack on to Laurie's story, and there isn't a thing to the character of Michael that hasn't already been (poorly) explored.
All I know is they had better call it anything but "Halloween 2".

that is until the next reincarnation that has nothing to do with originals or any cast from. call it "The Shape", make it a prequel. have it fail miserably and that's it!

DGG should be on the diverse list. he has some wildly different. comedy (Pineapple Express), drama (Snow Angels) (one of my all-time favs), others, horror (Halloween). pretty diverse i would say. sometimes i am surprised when he directs something i had no idea he directed...
