Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

WARNER BROS. DEVELOPING ANIMATED ‘BATMAN BEYOND’ MOVIE FOR THEATRICAL RELEASE

Sources tell us that this is DC’s response to Sony’s incredibly successful animated movie ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’. They’re currently targeting a 2022 release but that is not set in stone. A cast and crew have not been announced. SuperBroMovies writer Daniel Ritchman also showed us a slate of when WAG movies will go into production, with a DC one in 2020. It’s likely that this is the 2020 project

I'd much prefer a live action movie.

Anytime a movie is made as a “response” to the success of another successful film = fail.

I’m with devilshalo, GIVE ME A LIVE ACTION VERSION!!! That is the reboot the DC film universe is needing.

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

I'm a little skeptical that this will make it to production, but Batman Beyond is my favorite of all the DCAU series and one of my favorite animated series ever, so i'm totally down for this.

So let's cast it live action ...

Bruce Wayne = Clint Eastwood

Animated or live action = Clint Eastwood. Otherwise, maybe Harrison Ford? He knows how to growl his lines at least.

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

The thing is animated DC films don’t get me terribly excited as they do so many of them straight to home media. I’ll see it if they make it though.

I'd be fine with Michael Keaton.

If this happens I hope it continues after the big reveal in JLU; which basically ended a long story arc for the character.

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

Fans are going to want Kevin Conroy but he's not a name above the marquee that sells tickets beyond the hardcore fan market. Knowing how these people operate, it will be an older Hollywood star. Think someone like George Clooney.

I am down for this! Live Action would be cooler but the DC animation department has been pretty solid overall

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

Why are people pushing for live action so much? Didn't Into the Spider-verse prove that animation is better for these types of stories?

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

Yeah, after Spider-Man i'd love to see a creative animated take on this with a budget bigger then the direct to video stuff. The futuristic world of Beyond would lend itself great to this as well and take more creative liberties with the story that they would be limited to in a live action movie.

Part of me hopes they don't use Conroy just because of the whining when he's not in every DCAU Batman role.

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

Truthfully if they’re trying to emulate Spider-Verse I think something like Batman Inc. would actually make more sense. That’s kind of a similar idea only instead of multiverses it’s just different Bat people around the globe.

This just sounds like a bigger budgeted version of Batman Beyond which is fine, but I agree if it’s just an animated feature isn’t very exciting. A live action film would be more interesting, but at the same time would cause confusion as we’re just entering into a reboot which is also coming off of the recent Affleck version.

Warner Bros. Is Not Developing An Animated ‘Batman Beyond’ Film

The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez confirmed with Warner Bros. there is no animated Batman Beyond film in development.

Earlier this week, leaked concept art for what appeared to be a new Batman project prompted rumors that Warner Bros. was developing an animated Batman Beyond film. Though the prospect of seeing fan-favorite animated series return as a feature film was exciting to most fans, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez confirmed there is no Batman Beyond project in the works with Warner Animation Group on the film and TV side as well as DC Films, with their official word on the subject being:

“Not true. We are not working on an animated Batman Beyond movie.”

Re: Batman Beyond Animated Movie (2022?)

I sort of felt like it was unusual they’d actually do a theatrical Batman Beyond animated movie given that WB releases DCAU movies direct to home media regularly. It seems like that route would make more sense.
