Am still excited to see this (mostly for apatow, I’m neutral on Davidson) but the trailer didn’t do much for me.

Judd Apatow is a great straight comedic director. He’s not James L Brooks. I still like the ones where he tries to be Brooks but they’re not my favorites.

Apatow needs a better editor. There’s no reason a comedy should be over 2 hours. Most of his movies wear thin after about 80 minutes...and then go for another 45.

Watching a breezy comedy shouldn’t be an endurance test.

Yes very much that too only I’m good for 105 with him but even then 15 minutes + of overstaying your welcome is a lot for a comedy.

Oh, so this is going to be the Judd Apatow movie where an irresponsible man-child has to finally look himself in the mirror and learn to grow up and take responsibility for his actions in order to grow in a relationship or with his family. I was waiting for him to make a movie like that.

I like that Buscemi, Bill Burr, and Apatow are involved and Davidson is cool but still on the fence if it is worth $19.95 or just wait until the Fall when it gets released on Blu-ray.

I am leaning towards getting it. Thinking about just supporting the industry a bit. But yeah it will be half that price to own in a few months.

For some reason I thought this was a Netflix release that dropped today. I’m interested in watching it but not for a $20 rental. I don’t see an option to buy.

137 mins, really? I know Judd Apatow movies are always longer than they should be but this doesn't strike me as a movie that needs to be that long.

Just finished watching. I agree it's unnecessarily long, but I really liked it. And I loved the last 30 minutes. It had a really sweet ending. 8/10 rating from me.

seeing this tonight and looking forward to it. i love most to all of Apatow's directed stuff, even with length and if this is half as good as Funny People i'll be pleased as i loved Funny People.

If the last 30 minutes are really good, I guess I have something to look forward to. It is long, and I have only watched half and tapped out for a break.
I would call this a character study of a character who's borderline loathsome.
I guess the premise is that Pete's character, like Pete, is supposed to be likable because he can make a joke and has medical problems, but I don't see it.
Bill Burr and Marisa Tomei are good.
Seriously, Marisa is 30 years older than Pete, but it looks so weird to see her playing Mom to a grown man.

I'm not saying I have absolutely no interest. I like Apatow's work, but not really a big fan of Davidson. I'll wait for until the rental drops in price and maybe see it later.

Im out until bluray. Just bought that Columbia 4K set and even after selling the codes thats my film money for the next few weeks at least.

Bill and Ted will probably be my first VOD film unless they somehow drop Black Widow on VOD.

I just finished this. I really enjoyed it. I don’t watch much SNL so I didn’t know anything about Davidson going in. I thought he did a great job. I only recognized Tomei and Buscemi of the cast, but they were all solid as well. I’m a sucker for light hearted dramas with some humor mixed in and this hit that spot for me.
