This movie will be horrible if it's not of the orignal cast.

^ Agreed. I like Apatow and co. a lot, but they are not right for this material. Fact is, NOBODY is right for it EXCEPT the original cast. And someone please pay Rick Moranis 20 million to reprise Lewis!

As much as I've liked the Apatow comedies, I just don't think that crew is a good fit here, because you're going to disappoint somebody no matter what. Old school Ghostbuster fans aren't going to want the franchise turned into a raunchy stoner buddy comedy, and the people who are tuning in for R-rated Seth Rogen/Jonah Hill shenanigans are going to be disappointed with a watered-down version of their humor.

Really? I liked the phone-line musical number, but I thought the rest was appallingly bad.

I think the idea of using the orginal to mentor new Ghostbusters is better. Have you seen the original cast recently? Akyroyd, Ramis, and Moranis are really getting up there. Does the present generation even think that they have any relevance anymore?

Seth Rogen, Mos Des, Jay Barachual, and Ellen Page. Make them the new Ghostbusters.

Not bad as much as it's a vastly missed opportunity. Doesn't have the same verve as the first one, and suffers from the sequel pitfall of "more of the same" instead of taking it a new direction (i.e. Aliens, Wrath of Khan, Dark Knight). As Murray said, the wounds have healed, and we're probably ready for more.

As much as I'd like to say keep it with just the original guys, they are looking pretty haggard. I just can't see them running around town busting ghosts anymore. Maybe if Ramis & Ackroyd got into shape and lost, oh 75 pounds each then we may have something.

I'm not sure about the Apatow camp angle. If they stick to actors that aren't poster-boys for the stoner crowd then maybe. Maybe Segal and Jay Barachual could be good. I could even go for a female Ghostbuster. Actually I'd be down with anyone from his troupe except for Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen or Michael Cera.

But I foresee a cast of two twenty year old, extremely good looking guys, one twenty year old fat funny guy, and an extremely hot 20 year old chick, strapping on the proton packs. And with that cast, I'd end up watching this alone on DVD.

So...Original cast = 6 tickets sold, new cast = 1 DVD rental.

They wouldn't care about people with our mentality.

It would appeal to a broader audience this way. Broader audience = More $$$$

I agree about the original cast being too old. I'd like to see them in some involvement, but I can't imagine them being the only leads.

You need to think like a movie studio exec not like yourself. If you and your family go it really doesn't matter I can get more money from...

Soundtracks
Videogames
Toys
Happy Meals
ringtones

companies that want to liscense Ghostbusters to be in their commercials and ad campaigns. Not to mention I get more free publicity.

So yea, your money is nice but corporate money is nicer and helps me recoop to the cost of the movie. Since Ghostbusters is already an established and proven successful brand worldwide I can get away with it.

Even if you don't drag your family to see the movie Columbia Pictures will gert your money somehow. Plus, I'd be focusing on the worldwide market right now, the American economy is shit anyway. I can also charge more for movie tickets in Europe and Asia.
