Kill Bill was a single movie split up by Harvey Weinstein (Tarantino acquiesced on this), rather than the usual "back-to-back" styled sequels. Superman 1 and 2 almost worked, if they hadn't fired Richard Donner and replaced him with the hacky shlockfest of Richard Lester, who had to reshoot most of the movie a few years later. I like Superman 2 but it was a sizable step down.

Yeah that looks like a leak of the official trailer, which hasn’t been released in the states yet. That’s a high quality trailer. Looks cool.

What’s the likelihood that Paramount shows this trailer with Top Gun? Seems way too early to promote it now. It does say “Next year” and there’s no other major tentpole Paramount movie for the rest of the summer to put it next to. It would get a huge response IMO in the theater this week.

Seriously why make this movie a Part 1? It's a recurring character with tons of continuity and it's not based on any existing material. It can end in a cliffhanger and still have its own title. Very weird decision when you think about it.

I remember seeing the teaser for Godzilla when I went to see the first Men in Black in ‘97. That teaser was better than anything in the actual movie. 😂

Someone on Twitter yesterday claimed the leak originated from a Bosnian movie web site (hence the subtitles) and was around a few days until someone just noticed it and then it went viral.

Maybe it was a trailers website and wasn't intended to be seen in the U.S.? Anyways, Paramount's legal and PR dept can't be too happy after yesterday.

I was hoping for a bigger crescendo of the theme at the end, but it looks great! (only other nitpick is the title reveal could've looked more impressive)

Pre-pandemic I couldn't recall the last time we got a lengthy trailer over a year before it's release... but I suspect they couldn't pass up the perfect movie to put this in front of.

That apparent fight scene with Rebecca Ferguson and Esai Morales is something I can’t wait to see.

And that final shot of Cruise jumping off the motorcycle is really him.

Can’t wait although it’s over a year away.

1. Tom Cruise is nearly 60 years old.

2. If Sean Connery had played James Bond as long as Cruise will play Ethan Hunt until the final (?) movie in 2024, Connery would have been playing Bond until 1990. 😳

Got to be impressed by Cruise’s stamina here!

This movie is going to have to make a shitload of money to be profitable. I last read the budget ballooned to $300M plus due to all the delays, COVID and insurance costs. I mean hell, they filmed some of this in 2020 when COVID was at it's worst.

I know China loves Cruise and with them being in lockdown, Top Gun isn't going to get Chinese money this year. They'll definitely need China money for MI.

Fallout made $181M in China 4 years ago. That's not the kind of money Paramount wants to pass on.

I still think they could have gone with Christmas time this year and made a ton of money.
