So Top Gun and MI-7 are both getting released next year (assuming COVID vaccines are out)? Tom Cruise is really a cinema buff. How fitting if he can single handedly bolster people getting (safely) back into theaters to get the chains up and running again.

MI: 7 and 8 will not be filmed back to back

Deadline said that Cruise will be promoting Top Gun Maverick. Once the promotional tour ends, then he will return to film 8.

I guess I’m not keeping up well enough. What the hell is Paramount Plus? There’s too many damn streaming services. At some point these things are going to have to start consolidating their services.

They are rebranding CBS All Access.

Its only a matter of time before the streaming herd gets thinned. Or the struggling ones will try banding together to offer a single subscription service. Only way they will survive. I have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and Tubi and already feel overwhelmed. I have zero interest in CBS, Paramount, HBOMax or any of the others. I have even been tempted to get rid of Amazon.

My mom, grandma, sister, and a few cousins each sub to one platform, then the family just shares the accounts. That way everyone has access to all of them, but each person is paying for only one.

No way would most people be willing to pay $150+ a month to sub to each and every platform by themselves in order to watch one or two shows a week.

Just watch Mission Impossible 7 in the theater this Fall then or way later on disc. No one is pressuring any of you to subscribe to Paramount plus. Chances are most here are going to see it in the theater and then see it again on digital or physical media. I know some people in this forum are tired of new services being announced all the time, but it’s just giving people options. You have 45 days to try to see it on big screen and that’s the way it should be seen initially anyways. I don’t know if they are completely pulling it for Paramount plus or if they will let Suoer Saver theaters have it. Anyways, its options.

Screw both those options, I'll just wait until it's available for purchase and leave it at that.

You can never please us. I’ve been bitching that there needs to be an ala carte option for cable since I never use half the channels. Now that we’re getting something similar, I’m bitching that it needs to be consolidated.

The Mission: Impossible movies are some of the (very) few movies I still buy on Blu-ray. Most likely that will be what I do when it’s available.

I get it man. You only have 24 hours in a day and not counting eating, working and sleeping, you only have so much time for entertainment.

and I know you have small kids, so it’s really hard for you to see movies in the theater no matter how much you want to see it.

Hey, I'd rather see this in a theater, but until things are really back to normal there's no way that I will be back to one.

Same. Even pre-covid, I would only go to 2 or 3 movies a year in the theater. MI: Fallout was one of them when it came out, and totally worth it. But now I'm not gonna chance it. I just recently subscribed to CBS All Access/Paramount+ anyway, so at least I'll be able to watch it there.

re: Mission: Impossible 7 (2022) — S: Cruise — W/D: McQuarrie

too bad it's out in "November 2021", that's past the Drive-in theater window for my part of the world. This is not a title that has been completed and delayed but a summer window might have helped it. We just got word of a local chain of about 8-10 theaters is closing its doors for good and I suspect another with only two locations will be done soon as well. The Oniel Cinema was my favorite place to see movies, family-owned and operated but I can't see them carrying the mortgage and other expenses of new construction without opening soon at full capacity and even then I fear they are doomed.

I really doubt theaters in my area will be opened in 2021 at all.

Mine are open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only...but when I drive by on weekends, the lots are all but empty (they were full in pre-COVID days). I'm not even sure they can remain open given how pure business is...but I've said it before, I'll say it again: most don't want to have to sit and watch a 2-hour film with a mask on.

re: Mission: Impossible 7 (2022) — S: Cruise — W/D: McQuarrie

Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Cary Elwes, Greg Tarzan Davis have rounded out the cast Paramount and Skydance’s Mission: Impossible 7 starring Tom Cruise. They join new castmembers Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff and Esai Morales as well as Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Vanessa Kirby, who are reprising their roles from previous installments. Christopher McQuarrie is returning as director.

McQuarrie confirmed the new additions on his Instagram with shots of each actor in character during shooting. The most recent installment ramped up production late last year after its filming was put on pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The plan was to shoot installments seven and eight back-to-back, but Deadline recently reported production on the eighth film will occur in 2022 in order to give cast and crew a break from the rigorous work load.

‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Filming Shuts Down After Positive Coronavirus Test

The move comes months after audio leaked of star Tom Cruise berating members of the crew for apparently not following COVID-19 guidelines.
June 3, 2021 3:01pm

The latest Mission: Impossible film has halted shooting in the U.K. after at least one member of the production tested positive for the novel coronavirus, a source close to the production confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. Filming on the Tom Cruise sequel will shut down for 14 days while those involved self-isolate. It is unclear how many people involved in the production tested positive.

“We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until June 14th, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing. We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation,” read a statement from the production.

The film has had a lengthy production process complicated by the pandemic. Mission: Impossible VII shut down in February 2020 just as the pandemic was beginning to shutter productions across the globe. In December, audio surfaced of Cruise berating members of the crew, who reportedly were standing too close together, violating COVID safety procedures.

Paramount and Skydance are behind Mission: Impossible, with writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, who last directed 2015’s Rogue Nation and 2018’s Fallout, helming the sequel as well as a planned eighth installment. Cruise reprises his role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, with Rebecca Ferguson, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff and Henry Czerny also starring.

The film is slated for a May 27, 2022, release.
