Re: Your Worst/Most disappointing Movies of 2018
I can agree there. It wasn’t going to be a blockbuster. I think it should have had more of a chance at being a bigger success than the other sequels with a name like Shane Black attached. That’s how I feel at least. He’s the kind of director who a Predator film seemed like a perfect match for. I’m not entirely convinced it was all his fault though and peg some blame on Fox.

Re: Your Worst/Most disappointing Movies of 2018
That wasn't exactly it. I called it Tom Cruise Death Wish Porn. I get the feeling he keeps pushing himself to do these outlandish stunts to see how close he can reach to get himself killed. All well and good if that's what gets his juices flowing, but I get no thrill or entertainment value out of it. If he wants to kill himself, let him do it on his own time. Jackie Chan used to do smaller-scale versions of this to entertain us and make a thrilling, exciting scene as part of the narrative. He got hurt a lot but he wasn't trying to kill himself.
Of course, if I tried those stunts...

Come on, really? You didn’t enjoy any of those? The Marvel movies especially feel like films you should know what to expect going in. I think Black Panther is overrated but not one of the worst or a bad movie. Fallout is one of the best action movies in a long time in my opinion.
I didn’t love Black Panther as much as other people but it was exactly what I expected it to be. Expectations for Marvel films should be set to a standard at this point. As far as Infinity War, it may not be the best Marvel film but it certainly packed A LOT of movie in that 2.5 hours! It’s one of the most full movies I’ve ever seen, it uses every minute, but I’m not sure how someone can walk out disappointed unless they were expecting a blowjob from Scarlett Johansson while watching it.
Maybe the Mission:Impossible movies aren’t your cup of tea but M:I: Fallout played very similar to the previous two movies. I’m not sure expectations could have been different. I’d also rank Fallout as one of the BEST movies of the year so I’m doubly confused.
Of course, I look at the member posting, realize his list isn’t Pokémon movies, and it all makes sense...

I may be in the minority but I didn't care for Blade Runner:2049. Loved the original but thought this sequel was too long and boring. Very disappointed this was directed by Denis Villeneuve and I loved his work such as Sicario and Prisoners. Only good part about the film was Ana De Armas, she a babe.

Yeah, I get disappointment is completely personal to each person so it’s impossible to argue against other people’s choices yet here I am...

1. Happytime Murders - I literally could not stay awake while watching.
2. The Nun - This movie was nothing but cheap jump scares.
3. The Possession Of Hannah Grace - I hope this wasn’t Shay Mitchell’s only chance.
4. The Predator - Well I think that’s final: No more Predator movies.
5. Halloween - It wasn’t terrible but, I expected it to be better. I was surprised at all the praise it received.

I almost put Halloween on my list too. Is it good? Sure. Competently made? Yes. As good or better than some (keyword) of the sequels? Definitely. Best of the sequels? Debatable. My argument with the film all along was that it needed to blow me away to make up for the fact that it’s telling the audience none of the other films matter. I know some will say that there’s already a few timelines, which while true doesn’t make this one better. It’s just the newest one. Clearly the end of the film is setting up more films, which are likely to fall into the same trappings as earlier sequels. Had this film definitively ended the story I might feel differently about it. As is it’s just another sequel and I enjoy some of the other sequels more. It’s got a lot of stupid shit in it and a lot of very convenient things that happen to make things come together for the story the film is telling. It’s not as brilliant or good as some like to believe in my opinion.

I am surprised by the hate for Happytime Murders. Sure, it wasn't great or anything, but how could you have high expectations going into seeing it? I thought it was moderately funny.
The only one that comes to mind is Jurrasic World. Hugely disappointing after how good the 1st one was.

Even Jurassic World wasn’t that great if you ask me. Better than the sequel by a bit, but they’re both pretty stupid.

I saw several of the films listed here.....
The Meg
Halloween
Pacific Rim
Tomb Raider
Teen Titans Go! (which I really liked)
All were perfectly fine ways to kill a couple hours.....Just Jurassic World made me mad that I saw it.

- The House with a Clock in Its Walls. This movie was so, so boring. I thought it would never end.
- Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom: what everyone else has said.
- The Strangers: Prey at Night: I love the original. The sequel was not at all worth the wait.
- Tag: I expected this to be gut-bustingly funny. I barely laughed at all.
- Solo: A Star Wars Story: Love it or hate it, at least TLJ wasn't boring.
- Ready Player One: Subtract the pop culture and you're left empty-handed.
- Birdbox: Loved the book. The movie let me down.
Finally, Hereditary. Stupid me fell for the hype that this was "the scariest movie since The Exorcist." Nope, not even close. But it's still completely worth watching just for Toni Collette's amazing acting.

^Revenge was garbage, and I also found A Quiet Place very disappointing and annoying. I did like Hereditary, though. So many so-so horror films get too much critical adulation these days.

Expected a lot more and maybe changing directors doomed the movie

Did you go into Teen Titans Go having never seen the cartoon? Because they act the same way there.
I liked most of the movies I watched but then I love superhero movies and even when moviepass was working I never really went to a movie just to see one. Probably the most disappointing was the new Grinch, but that was more for the kids and it's not like I was expecting much.

Yup, never saw the cartoon. If they act that way, I'd probably hate the cartoon too. I guess that Teen Titans cartoon is meant for really young kids and is more or less a slapstick version of the characters.

Incredibles 2. Easy. The original was a masterful work on so many levels, as art, as pop culture entertainment, as a visual masterpiece, as sublime storytelling, and as a top-notch superhero adventure.
Incredibles 2 was perfectly enjoyable, forgettable product. Fun to watch but left zero impact whatsoever. A decent cheeseburger compared to the most exquisite steakhouse dinner.
