Vader Episode I: Shards of the Past (A Star Wars Fan Film)

So this has been gaining some traction recently. It's a pretty impressive fan film that takes place eight months after the end of Revenge of the Sith. I would say it's pretty damn impressive for not being official. The acting is mostly decent save for the guy that plays Palpatine going a bit too over the top a couple times. I'd love to see an official Vader film that maybe takes some cues from this. From the sounds of it there's going to be a second episode eventually as well.

pretty awesome stuff until the actress, who is not a young Natalie Portman, showed up as Padme and took me right out of the moment. but the rest, including the emperor, was top notch.

I’m pretty impressed by the effects as well as the costumes, especially for Vader and the Clones. I didn’t think the actress playing Padme was bad. The kid playing Anakin definitely didn’t look like Jake Lloyd though.

The acting is overall decent, and I think the voice of Vader is good. Palpatine I feel is hit and miss throughout. I watched a review that I agree with that said we see his face a bit too much. It should have been more shadowed by the hood of his cloak. The voice was okay, but some of the dialogue is iffy.

The film seems to draw a lot of inspiration from the Vader comics by Marvel. Shows how much Vader/Anakin is basically Palpatine’s bitch.

It’s definitely not perfect, but you can tell the people behind it are passionate Star Wars fans. I’m really curious to see the second episode. Especially since...

Spoiler:
they seem to be alluding to Vader going to Naboo to finish off Mace Windu.

I think a project like this shows more passion and love for the franchise than a lot of what the sequels have given us.

I liked it. It was a quality fan film. The actor who played Palpatine dropped it down a notch for me but otherwise it was quite good!

I enjoyed that! Agree that the Emperor should have had his cloak lower during the moments his forehead was showing, but as far as being over the top, you're right, but it fits with how he acted in ROTS where he was ridiculous.

Really shows how much Lucas dropped the ball by not plotting the prequels so that he was Vader for most of the third film.

Also, I assume that Disney is OK with these the same way George was always supportive of the fan films. Say what you will about George but that was one area where he was very reasonable. I want to say his company even gave out awards for the best fan films at one point.
