Who would you pick to direct this lost Kubrick screenplay (Burning Secret)
And why would it be anyone other than Denis Villeneuve?

It would be cool if it got made someday... But it'd have to be in the right hands. I think Villeneuve would be the man for the job.

The script to an unmade film by the late Stanley Kubrick was discovered by a film professor researching a book about the director's last project.
Burning Secret was ditched in the late 1950s, amid suggestions it was too controversial for studio bosses.
Bangor University's Nathan Abrams said the new find was "fantastic".
Burning Secret was an adaptation of a 1913 novella by the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, written by Kubrick in 1956 with novelist Calder Willingham.
It tells the story of a suave insurance salesman befriending a 10-year-old boy, so he is able seduce the child's mother.
Prof Abrams said the screenplay takes an original Viennese Jewish novel and translates it to Kubrick's contemporary America.
"I would argue that what we can see draws a direct link between this film, between Lolita, Barry Lyndon, The Shining and culminating in Eyes Wide Shut," said Prof Abrams.

Christopher Nolan--so he can make it completely incomprehensible, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

M. Night Shyamalan--so he can give it a shocking twist ending, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

Michael Bay--so he can fill it with lots of cgi robots and fetishistic shots of military vehicles, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

Wes Anderson--so he can make it with stop motion puppets and a very droll sounding Bill Murray, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

Steven Spielberg-- so the kid can turn out to be an android, the mother an alien and all 3 live together happily ever after.

Jordan Peele--so he can make it a socially conscious horror movie that makes us question the society we live in, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

Asghar Farhadi--so he can make it a quiet rumination on marriage in the Middle East, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

James Cameron - so he can set it against a backdrop of man's hubris with technology, taking 10 years to make as he prepares state-of-the-art SFX to present it and shoots in 240fps, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.
But seriously, Paul Thomas Anderson.

You guys are having fun.
But seriously, how about the Coen Brothers? It sounds like it would have a lot of slanted humor and they are great imitators of style.

Ooh, ooh, let me try!
Ridley Scott — so he can tell us about the 76 sequels he has planned ... and then come back in 20 years to tell us it was actually the story of an android Viennese salesman searching for the alien gods that made him and Jesus, and that was his plan all along, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

JJ Abrams — so Greg Grunberg can be adorned with lens flares in a quasi remake/reboot/sequel of Barry Lyndon, which I'm so sure is what Kubrick had in mind.

^ You give the insurance salesman role to Bill Murray and you’ve got yourself Rushmore. It was a decent movie so I’ll say Wes Anderson to direct despite rocket1312’s previous comment.
