Blues Brothers 2000 is GARBAGE. Yes, this might be the winner of this thread. It's an abominable mess, I was appalled when I first saw it in theaters. All the hip humor, heart and good music of the original is replaced with Aykroyd-Gone-Wild.

First films that came to mind were "Poltergeist II", "The Sting II", "Caddyshack 2" and "European Vacation". I'm also siding with those who said "Grease 2" is a fun film. Sure, the songs weren't as catchy as the original. But production-wise, it's a far superior film. And as much as I like "Aliens", I thought it's production value looked cheap (compared to "Alien). To me, it looked like it was made on a shoe string budget. And it probably cost more (I don't know).

Gojira 54—> almost all Toho G-flims that followed starting with a particularly harsh fall off the high edge with the 2nd film that was the garbage called Godzilla Raids again

Why the fuck are people ripping on Aliens? It's not like the characters in Alien were particularly deep ("right.") And the production values were top notch for the time.
Besides, comparing Alien to Aliens is like comparing Halloween (1978) to Die Hard: they're two different genres.

Because Groucho did and made a funny when he did it. It started a stroke fest. I think all that "busy strokin'" is why the IRON MAN franchise didn't get mentioned till page 3. jus sayin...

I know this is probably a very minority opinion...but Superman III to Superman IV was simply aweful. Sure, SIII is considered inferior to SI and II, but it does have some good parts to it - it was one of the earliest films I remember watching in the theater - was terrified for years at some of the ending scenes. But, nothing and I mean nothing could prepare me for seeing SIV in the theater as a kid. I couldn't understand at the time how any movie of Superman's stature could be gone from theaters within a week. I do watch it when I decide to do a Superman marathon and I feel sick every single time. Compared to it, Superman Returns at least had production values

The Crow City of Angels ranks up there as one of the most jaw-droppingly aweful cinema experiences I've ever had whereas The Crow is one of the best. It deserves to be reviled and, hopefully, never mentioned again ;/

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle --> Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanimo Bay
The first film is a fun, good natured romp the second is completely nasty and charmless.

American Graffiti --> More American Graffiti
Few falls from greatness in cinema were as far as this one. While the original is a classic that features interconnected stories that are meaningful, MAG features 4 rotating stories (in distractingly different aspect ratios) that are wholly pointless. If AG is a delicious strawberry milkshake, this one was a soggy 3-day old, roast beef sandwich. This was the biggest cash grab of a sequel that wasn't directed-to-video or a horror movie.

I liked More American Graffiti. Obviously it's a totally inferior sequel but I enjoyed spending some more time with these characters and my 13-year old self, way before Pulp Fiction, Resovoir Dogs (or yet having seen Rashomon) appreciated the non-linear storytelling of several interwoven stories told simultaneously.

Re: worst degradation in quality from original to sequel
Uhm...clearly I'm talking about all 3 in terms of going downhill. IM1"best", IM2"not as good as 1", down to IM3"worst of the 3". It's not that hard to figure out...
