Started off alright but I got pretty bored halfway through. Not terrible but nothing too special.

The actors were good overall and there was some decent creepy imagery.

I was trying to decide what to see tomorrow, guess I can scratch this off the list.

When this was announced I was so excited for it. As details emerged over the past few months my interest diminished a bit, but I was still determined to see it considering how much I loved the books growing up.

The illustrations in the book used to freak me out, so I was excited to see them come to life. In the movie, I found the imagery to be spot-on for the most part, but I feel that it was wasted on this movie. As far as the story itself, I thought it was boring, a bit cliché, and just generally underwhelming. I was also hoping they'd do more than just a few of the stories. I'm wondering if they'll adapt More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones.

Agreed. This felt disorganized and there was a massive struggle to get a good rhythm/flow going. On the plus side, this PG-13 film felt more "R-rated" than La Llorona did, at least. And what was with the big emphasis on Richard Nixon? Reflecting the horrors that are currently occurring in Trump land?

Caught this in a packed theater tonight and really enjoyed it. And while I am familiar with the book series, I've never read them.

Saw this last night and I also agree with your points here.

The Plot is incredibly generic and at the halfway point of the film (about where my interest tapered off), I started to wonder if the Writers had done it for nostalgia's sake or if they purposely wanted to make an incredibly derivative script.

Stella's line where she states "You don't read the book, the book reads you", was incredibly cringe-worthy and was indicative of the writing contained in this film.
