You're all right. Slipped my mind. I was simply thinking "people" which you don't really see in those scenes. Unless I'm remembering that wrong too.

I just saw this in IMAX today and what a fun film this turned out to be, Nicole Kidman makes a fine warrior.

Really? Two brothers fighting over the kingship of a region. They dual and the "bad" brother wins, taking over said kingdom. Good brother goes, regroups, returns to claim his throne. Come on, you can argue that AQUAMAN was following its comic book origins and wasn't really "copying" anything, but the comparison is pretty obvious.

I dont understand how a movie this deeply silly isnt much fun. Ill give it to James Wan for being able to direct action in a way that makes it easy to follow it. Getting Julie Andrews to play a kaiju is inventive and some of the creatures (the crab army in particular) were really cool. But the lows of the movie are atrocious. The most obvious: Black Manta looks like a Power Rangers villain.

Based on the trailers, this looked like it was going to be just another DC film, and a total pile of CGI mush.
Turns out this is easily the most enjoyable movie I've seen in the theater all year, and the best DC movie by a country mile. The story and acting were...whatever. But the visuals were fuckin dynamite. From start to finish, I was totally engaged in what I was watching. I could watch this on mute and still enjoy myself. We watched Spiderman the next day and, while that looks great, I felt fatigued by the end, and the wow factor had diminished quite a bit. Aquaman, on the other hand, stayed fresh the entire time. I could go on and on about how much I loved just the overall look of Aquaman.
Except for the deaging effects. It always has, and always will, look like shit.
And I've never been a fan of his growing up, but I was super impressed with Dolph Lundgren in this. He was great.

Saw it with the wife last night. I dug it.
TBH, I'd rewatch it just for the Amber Heard scenes. What a gorgeous woman.
This one thing confused me though: I always got the impression they knew each other in Justice League. Why did he ask her name in this one?

^ Yeah, that one was odd especially since she did mention about him helping to defeat Steppenwolf, so clearly they're not ignoring the events from Justice League. Of course, Wan himself ignored the whole air bubble so maybe he chose to believe that scene never existed

Had two free tickets expiring and the hubster got to choose (since I like ALL movies) chose Aquaman. He loved it! Kept talking about it during lunch. And he's not big on superhero movies.

I loved it. My wife, who is more of a Marvel fan and not too versed in DC lore, loved it as well. This is really playing well across all quadrants.

Crazy how this is going to cross $1 billion and is the highest grossing DCEU movie. Many were expecting this to tank, especially with the crazy amount of competition it had in December.

He's always looked like that. The film was plenty fun.

I'm happy this is doing great, that way DC might be able to re-resurrect Cavill's Superman in a more fun movie

Even though this movie didn't work very well for me, I'd love to see a Cavill led Superman with the same type of tone too.

I've had to "adjust" my initial "box office drop prediction" but I predict this will have a HUGE drop off in another week or so. The voice of the "Been burned by DC before" folks will NOT be hushed!!
