Rumor is that the Academy is now going forward with NO host...just a collection of different presenters. At this late date, it's hard to find anyone to agree to host, as the prep time would be so short.

Those Bohemian Rhapsody wins must have been awkward for Sacha Baron Cohen.

I was thinking that the whole time as well.

I understand Rami winning, but Best Picture? No.

I figured A Star Is Born would take the win for Drama Best Picture as it seems like the type of film these shows like to gush over. I agree I wasn’t surprised about Rami getting Best Actor but didn’t think as a whole the film would win Best Picture.

I love musician biopics, but Bohemian Rhapsody was firmly a decent movie. I don't know how it was nominated, let alone win best picture. There's literally a montage in the movie of city names flying onto the screen as band members say thank you to each one. That's a cliché of a cliché. What a joke.

honestly, i'm happy Bohemian Rhapsody won. Quite frankly, in terms as a movie, it beat out A Star Is Born in that term alone. I went into BP not giving a crap about them. I came out caring and getting their music.

With a Star is Born, i went in with high expectations and came out with a good movie but the same old mix. It won exactly what it should have. best song

If I'm being honest, I don't think there was a film nominated in either category (besides maybe If Beale Street Could Talk) that was good enough to warrant being awarded with a golden statue at a big awards show. Bohemian Rhapsody was good, but thats about all I can say about it.

Beale Street and BlackKklansman were plenty good enough. If I was Spike and Barry, I'd be laughing with befuddlement at losing to BR.

I hope they don't bring back Sandra Oh as a host.

When I think of comedy the first name that does not come up is Oh.

The Jeff Bridges segment was the best moment. I forgot about White Squall and that was one of his more underrated performances.

Christian Bale seemed to be a lot happier and jovial than usual. Was he drunk?

Yeah, terrible choice for a host. And I like Sandra Oh, a lot. But she's no Tina Fey or Amy Poehler. Agree with you about Bridges performance in "Squall". Which is also underrated as a film. And oh yes, Bale was three sheets to the wind.
